Stupid Stuff

Today at work I was discussing a trip we're going on with some who use the service. I think I'm more excited than they may be. It appeals very much to the in me and at 33 yrs old I still collect starwars figures, which says alot!!!! I also have a pretty cool ActionMan collection as well and yes, when bored they have been played with.

I was told to make sure I didn't get over excited and become competative in the games. What? Me? I say let them experience disappointment now. Then they're prepared for later life. Plus I wanna WIN.

I guess this side of me has made me the perfect baby sitter for friends. I can play the games, get on the floor and be a slug and demonstrate discipline when it's bed time, then again there has been the odd occasion where I may have accidently got the too excited to sleep. No happy parents there

A mate told me to grow up the other day and my response was 'Why? So I can be miserable like you?' Not a good way to end a conversation.

I reflected on this. I believe it to be a good thing to have the in you. It allows you to see things from a different perspective. It allows you to have fun when laughter may be in short supply.
As adults we begin to lose our freedom and gain inhibitions. We believe we are above certain types of behaviour because they will make us look foolish and we will lose the respect of others. What crap!!
Respect doesn't come because your a bit older. It comes from your actions and how you treat those around you. It comes from your ability to see all sides and make informed decisions from the information received. It can also come from your ability to laugh at yourself and accept your faults.

There are some I would give more respect to than some adults. Why? For one they tend to tell the truth, no matter what it is. They question what they see as wrong when we may sit back and let it happen. They have the ability to absorb new knowledge when some of us refuse to because what we believe is right and nothing new is gonna change that.

So.....when life feels a bit serious do something stupid. Take a space hopper up a big hill and go for it. Borrow a childs BMX and freewheel up your road. Eat sweets until you throw up and have to take the next day off work. Paint your face green and go around for the day pretending to be a giant bogey but for gods sake please don't tell your friends to grow up. They may be a bit more mature than you give them credit for!!

Mishmesh,
This stupid stuff shines w/ some wisdom! Btw, your answer to this mate, just excellent. See my smile?!

Children's world is an idealized, funny beautiful world. If all adults keep some "child" in them, our world w/b better place. If we cant require all to, just keep it for ourselves. It's the curiosity, self-amusing ability, all these funny stupid stuff that make us happy. So do it!
