Studying in Australia

A list of "stuff" u have to worry about before & after u depart to the "unknown".

1) Climate
Im from 4 summer-season-country. Anything below 15 C is going to make me tremble. You will know this when u get the electricity bill at the end of the month (thanks to my personal heater) LOL.

Yeap, i enjoyed 4 seasons As much as i can to tolerate these;

Spring: You get to "enjoy" hayfever.
Summer: Posibilities of getting sunburned or cancer.
Autumn: Yeap, having to worry about little pests that need the "warmth". Cant get them away from the house eh?
Winter: Heaps of rains, gloomy sky and feeling moody and cant get up from the bed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) Language

Those who have superb english command, u can skip to number 3 (hahaha).

Now, i know there are heaps of chinese from china and japanese people who purposely fly over to Australia just for the 6 months english course.nah, tat doesnt make them a total super-genius-output after the course. 6 months are not enough!

The best way is through interactions with those who speaks well in english. Unfortunately, i found people who just smile widely and nod or keep on saying "Yes yes yes"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

3) Food

Homemade and home country's food is always the best. Believe me. I searched the WHOLE city just to get the similar delicacies.

It takes me 1 week to realise why i acted so stupid because... if u plan to stay there for the rest of your live, then u would have bored to death or u should start finding those homemade food!

If, its just a temporary stay, then perhaps u should try to accept the differences and the varieties of food that each country can offer to you. Change and acceptance seemed to be the issue in here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) The people

Just because i looked like chinese doesnt mean im from China! Oh great, excuses on our ancestors originally from China. I must admit, having friends who are originally born and grew up in Country A but never admit themselves as the citizen from Country A are jerks. *shrug* some people can be so blind and ignorant.

Yeap, not forget to mention.. all those racist words threw to me *shake head* and having people throwing coke cans at me once i walked down from the bus; the woman at the counter that ignored me coz i speak very little bloody aussie slang?

I speak 5 chinese dialects, english, mandarin, malay(and bahasa indonesia), a bit of korean and a bit japanese language. Im learning your language (aussie slang), your country's history and what about YOU? yer think yer can speak and understand so many bloody languages?

*smirk* Well, i aint that bad isnt it? lol

Pic: aussie beer

Forgive but never forget LOL

I have told you my cousin is Australian now but at the point he became Australian we never talk together ahahahahahah don't ask me why but it's a fact.

Oh, Ann, your Chinese looking brings you these racism problems in Aussie? How dare they do that kind of coward acts to u a sweet girl?!

I quite agree with u on the Food issue. While abroad, I struggled to look for my own food after a period of taste adjustment. Usually ended up paying expensive bill for odd terrible food that seduced me only by the label.

yeah brother touch213. Well, tats what we called skin colour and race issues. im not gonna bring that up. Im sure u guys know what i mean.

lartimer: Aussie loves beers. Hmmm... ive sworn to myself not to take beef for this year (pls dont ask me why again). Their aussie beef is definitely great. Aussie is also great for their red wine (i took shiraz after harvest and it taste GREAT!!!!!). nah....bread?potatoes?hmm.. not much idea coz i seek more on chinese or so called asian food.

swallowtsui: Yeah, believe me. If you ask any chinese friends of yours who went to Australia.. they will definitely tell u the same story just like what i tell u in here. I mean, not everyone aussie are bad. Some are really nice. At times, u get ranked by race. It was cruel but tats the truth. I even have people asking me for money just to have them get home by bus. When u looked carefully at them.. u get to see them wearing branded stuff (doesnt even look like a beggar) *shrug* Its like that when u become an international student or a chinese.

yeap, i ended up paying 1 month's restaurant bill (coz i missed my home food so much that i visited restaurant very regularly). However, u usually ended up stop paying them because of the currency rate. (Too expensive) >.< !!!!!! No wonder some of my friends stuck with instant noodles!
