The face of the rich folks

Venue: Wedding ballroom

Yesterday night, i was sitting next to an old man. He wore the simplest clothes i have ever seen. A brown dirty shoes, long "apek"(grandpa) old fashioned cream trouser with short shirt. He keeps talking on and on with me. The nearby people only talks among themselves. Oh well, since hes friendly, and im darn bored (no friends around), then we talked. Once the wedding ceremony ended, ive decided to get outta ballroom ASAP (as soon as possible).

Guess what happened next? one of the woman approached me and asked,

"ni zhi dao ta sih sui ma?" (Do u know who is he?). He is one of the millionaire in your city.

*toukki's jaw drop down*

A lesson to all of you. USUALLY those who are VERY and TRUELY rich... you will never know they are rich. They even looked poorer than average earning people. WHILE, at the same time, those mid-average workers are trying very hard to look like those chocolates wrapped in a beautiful wrapping paper.

There's a classic example of the old saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" and it is true about some (but not all) really rich ppl - they often play it down. I would think it's often to discourage the hangers-on and scroungers with all their hard-luck stories. That sort of thing doesn't happen in Chinese FriendFinder of course? TG attempting to be sarcastic.

I bet he enjoy the conversation with you, because it came across real, and not have anything to do with him having money. very good moment in life, this way, you can continue to be genuinely friendly even in the company of the rich, without change the way you are.

How do you people meet these people??? I don't know one millionaire. This reminds me of that old movie from the sixties (I think) "How To Marry A Millionaire" with Marilyn Monroe. It's hard to remember now, but I think three women were plotting to marry millionaires. There was another old movie where a man impersonated a woman in order to marry a millionaire. Then ended going to Rio to live, lol!
I love old movies.

That is so true sealover!

topgent & goan: Psst. Yer got that right. Not only that.. it is so rare to see the rich folks acted "normal". Excuse me if you belong to the rich type but really... i find most of them are really a snob with their nose on the air and eyes not looking at you while they are shaking your hand (greetings). Such insincerity.

touch: Yeah. I must admit, we human being can be very insensitive and overbearing at times. Imagine if your next door is a millionaire, what would you do? Everyday send present or gifts to him? hehehe. At times, i feel it is so nice to be an average person. Ive seen a rich guy living on top of a hill (mansion) with several body guards + dogs. Scared of being attacked, thieves, and media. No point living in such manner especially when the bills comes right in front of your door LOL!

Deb dear There is also a HK movie by sammy cheung, how to marry a rich man. A bit of cinderella story. You might want to check it out

Toukki,

Sometimes, rich man had the tendency to live the simplest way... be on clothings , food , or even the luxury of having that exposure to public eye...Maybe the easiest way of them having what they want at once, gives them the tendency to give up the monotony of being that rich! Getting fed up with the lusters and glitters of abundancy in everything!

Some of them end up as "philanthrophers" and that's were my salute comes !

Truely it is as what Toukki/Sealover says.

In Hong Kong, there are quite a few Riches dressing worse than the old guy in this story. (as reported by Ba Guai/tabloit magazine)

Some hidden mmillionares even look more shabby than beggars. Some are rubbish pickers.

There are many kinds of ppl in the world and ppl choose their dressing way, happy way. So never judge a man by what he dresses and looks.
