Fate or fortuity

At times I can't help but wonder whether destiny really exists, whether it has already been composed, and we are just playing on the score... is there any space for improvisation... or even the most skilfully played cadenzas had already been written...

It occurred to me that I am in the situation in which I live now, because of a series of coincidences dating back at least 10 years (that I can recall... probably more). Now... I can believe in a couple of coincidences, but this seems a bit excessive... I am talking about events involving a variety of people and institutions, not depending on my will only... hence I couldn't have been responsible for those... but they happened...

I can't say now whether my life would have taken a better (or worse) course had these events not occurred... but I consider that insofar in my life I have been quite fortunate... I always met great people prepared to help and support me, and had the best opportunities offered... and if at times life didn't go exactly as I expected (and made me feel down), well... I later found out the reason, and in the end everything was actually for the best...

Am I the only one to have such a feeling?

Fate and fortuity both work in our life. Fate is the conductor; fortuity is the instrument; we are the players.

G'day Joseph, and thanks for your comment, you are very right

as I said, I can't know how my life would have turned had those occurences not occurred, but still...

I find myself now in the position I was dreaming of being, and that only 4 year ago I would have never imagined could have become reality... and mind you, I didn't get to where I am now because I got the powerball and bought myself the position, but because of the ... series of coincidences I mentioned above...

It's a bit hard to explain in words... it is a feeling... the Japanese would say なんとなく (lit. "just because", but that actually doesn't do justice to the real meaning...)

I understand your view point... Best wishes

we can set plans in motions.. but we make choices each moment of each day that affect thsoe plans, and the attitude that we develiope within the minutes that pass, which impact those plans.. the course change.. but the seed of the plan is planted and each choice we make , as long as we try to make the best of it to fit the model of the plan, then the circumstances and conditions of the plan may change and alter but each moment its how we act and react that change the motions of our engagments...and with backward reflections we find that all things have elements that produce good if good is the premisis that constitutes us..

and many unforseen elements exist within the midist..
