Which Car To Buy?

Just want to get some opinions on automobile quality today. Some swear by one product and some swear at another but we have foreign auto's built in the U.S.A and American auto's built in Canada etc.

I am not really a car driver cause I am still willing to take the BART and Muni and CalTrans when I need to travel in the Bay Area. And when travel to a distant city I don't mind taking the hired car or the cab cause to tell you the truth this is one Asian woman driver you wanna get away from cause you know I enjoy texting my friends whem I am driving and you know that is taking away from my concentration.

So anyway, my elder brother and sisters decided they gonna get me a new car cause I am gonna get a new job doing the research in the East Bay and the transportation not too good there and is not really safe at the night time to walking to the public transportation.

I have an old BMW car now but before is new but I guess a car almost eight years you gots to put a lot of money into the maintaining it and the milage is not so good as the new models is.

I am asking, what kinda car do you think is good car for me to drive in California rush hour traffic? I thinking I need the blue ray technology cause pretty soon cannot texting anymore while driving cause of new law.

The budget not to worry about cause I guess they gonna lease it for the business and they gonna carry me on the books as a consultant to the business so part of my perks is I get to have the company car to use for business.

Any ideas?

Used Honda Accord or Toyota Camry is your best bet. They are very reliable and has great resale value. If you are looking for a new car only, then you might want to look at the one that has build in bluetooth function if you like to use cellphone in the car. Japanese cars are your best bet if you want low maintenance cost and reliability.

Well my elder brother make up his mind so fast and he deciding to buy five of the Prius cars cause the milage is good so I have no choice except for the color so I choosing the silver color.

I get one and he gonna share one with my eleder sister for company business when they visiting clients. The other three is gonna be for the delivery use of products to the customers and other things like that. The milage is really good.

Actually, I was looking at the Dodge Caravan cause it could be a fun car to drive and it has nice folding seats to the floor so can also be using for cargo but you know someone gotta drive and the girl frinds can be so loud and noisy in the club car setting in the back that maybe it gonna be hard for me to concentrate on the driving and who knows maybe gonna crash and after that not gonna need a car cause we gonna be flying like angels.

Well today I go with my elder brother to looking at the cars. Is a problem cause he can only leasing the new cars but the price is pretty good but then they have so many of the restrictions on how many miles I can driving each year like is easy to going more then 12,000 miles in one year and is big penalty if driving more then that.

So we thinking more about what to doing and then I calling the different insurance company to find out about the policy for the different kinda cars and if is best for the new or the used or the lease car.

Then I also have to consider the milage the car is gonna give me but then I also thinking about the Prius but they saying having to replace the battery after three year is like the same price of gas I saving so is not really that good a price after all but someone suggest maybe is to lease one and then after the three years just turn back in so not have to worry about replace the battery.

But I also thinking a lot about the safety of the car for me to drive in the California rush hour and is also dangerous to driving in Oakland and Bekreley cause is easy to have the car jacking there by Black and Hispanic gangs in the broad daylight in the downtown areas.

And color is also the factor cause they saying that certain cars catch the attention of the police if going to fast or the attention of the car jacker. But is also the safety factor cause maybe other driver not able to seeing you so he gonna rear end you (and you gay guys knowing what that feeling is like) so now I have another choice to making.

Then I see the car I really like but the color is ok, it is older car too, but is very safe looking and is almost same size as the tank and the price is really good. But the gas milage really sucks money out of my pocket but if get hit by other car not gonna bother me cause car is elevated cause of big tires and has got the really strong bumbers so no taking any problem from the smaller cars too. Only competition on the highway is by the big diesel trucks but I not gonna get one of those cause is hard to find the parking. So this is the Humvee I series and of course the mialge is only 8 miles per gallon and it takes two parking spaces so my sister is gonna have to park her car on the street so I can parking in the driveway.

But I see one I really want but the guy say I need to give him a 4 year committment but I saying that is ok, just wanna know where I can buy a used Stryker tank.

So I still looking for a practical car to get.

My recommendation is a hybrid. Since I'm turning my commute car of 10 years in this year due to high mileage, I'm considering either the Nissan Altima hybrid or the new Saturn hybrids. If BMW or Audi comes out with a hybrid sedan or coupe, I would seriously consider as a good commute car since I have a bimmer already and I enjoy the maintenance-free every 15K mile service. Now that GM and Chevrolet (same auto company) have recently advertized hybrid SUV models with better than 30 mpg, I may consider also. I commute 100 miles a day on East Bay freeways, and after 10 years of driving up and down 680 and sometimes 580, 24 and 880, three things stuck with me: safety, gas mileage, and high occupancy vehicle (hov) lanes.

Safety
Too many high speed accidents I have witnessed compelled me to stay away from small compact cars without a good safety record. Small cars are great for city driving, but bad for combat on the freeway, especially when 2 out of 3 vehicles are trucks, SUVs, and rigs. Some small cars have good safety records, but it has more to do with the driver than the car. Cars equipped with crumple zones, solid driver and passenger compartments, and side air bags are a must.

Gas Mileage
Anything over 30 mpg is great. Anything over 35 mpg is fantastic. Very important for long commutes when gas is over $2.99 per gallon. I could rent a room in the East Bay for less when gas hits $3.50 per gallon.

HOV Lanes
I get jealous when drivers zoom by me at 80 mph on the HOV lane alone in their hybrids while I crawl at 5 mph in heavy traffic. Even with a reverse commute, it often takes an hour and a half to cover 50 miles one way. On the HOV lane, it takes less than 45 minutes. Unless I can round up a commuting buddy for the same route and at the same time for much of the week, taking advantage of the HOV lane without a hybrid is a dream. Hybrids are so craved these days in the Bay Area for both their gas mileage and waiver on the car pool lanes, so much so that some non-hybrid owners are stealing decals from hybrids to try to fool the CHP.

Conclusion
With the above 3 factors being considered, I would love to have an SUV hybrid that gives me 30 mpg or better. Moreover, a huge tax deduction can be applied on the purchase of the SUV (light truck category) for business purposes.

tell them to purchase the Audi A8 and be done with it

the real question is , the application of the Car... will you be escorting business people, will you be just driving to personal location, and what do you feel most comfortable with for comfort, reliability, and economy.. and then put that into the price framework, but living in the area whee you live.. how does they hybird equate, are there enough facilities to service it, will the service be at a premium above regular cars, and what are the fueling options and the localities of fuel point locations.

draw up a spread sheet lay it out on model and see which has the most suitable feature for what you want.. or just get what you like looking at and driving.. on the external car's are all about appeal... so we buy what appeals that suits our needs at the time

Buy American, Vickie! GM has a wondeful line of products. I have a Chevy Impala LTZ. Best car I have ever owned and I have owned about 50! Or the New Malibu (Car of the Year). Or the Buick for a touch more luxury.

First, let me say that I really, really enjoy your blog, Vicky.

Second, I'll add that Nissan's entire line of new cars features bluetooth (not blue RAY!) technology and hands-free cell phone dialing. It's not hands-free texting, but it's a start.

Do you feel like texting, or do you feel like driving? It's a good question to ask yourself before you start your car. Be careful out there!
