a Record of a Detour

Oct. 7, 2007

Insisted by you, we took a detour thru Shekou, Shenzhen to Dongguan. A 2.5hr bus trip ended up a prolonger one -

1:5h by jet foil
10m checking for information
40min resting adn eating at KFC
40min walking around for an illegal taxi
1:5h by taxi

TTL: 4h30min

Let's sum up the advantages and disavantages:

Advantages:

1. Yes, i see one more port/border town, at Shenzhen/HK frontier. Yes i never knew it's so international, devilly updated.

2. Taking boat's much more relaxing i/o a long back-tiring bus trip

3. When transferring, getting refreshed in KFC.

4. You made me walk like mad in the dark streets with luggage and bag. I doubted your insanity. But when I finally saw the taxis, I knew i should trust you, if not always

5. The satisfying and honest smile of the driver, who comes fm Jiangxi province, when we tipped him more

Disavatages:

1. time-consuming, 2 hrs more.

2. costing Rmb150 more each person.

3. Missing the arranged welcome dinner

4. The taxi driver's tense driving on highway and mumble about his own wrong quotation of the taxi fee. He's just acting to get more fm us.

Folks, would you still take this detour? It gained more or lose more? Do you think we are crazy doing this?
