A bird in the storm and the storm will never perch

A bird in the storm and the storm will never perch

The strongest typhoon ever in the past 15 years has just swept the city. Eyeful eyeful is the aftermath debris everywhere. Tree trunks and still freshly green leaves are having their last weeping on the floor. Electronic media are broadcasting news of flooding…a man called the phone-in program and said, “I feel sad seeing the shops and households fighting to rescue their belongings.”

I am walking on the muddy cobble stoned alley, a quiet back alley that is adjacent to a cemetery. Rains and winds keep raving, stroking down on my umbrella and on the struggling mall trees.

Suddenly, a little bird bumps into my eyesight ‒ it should be a sparrow. It’s standing on the middle of the mud-and-water way, perhaps looking for food, or having some fun, or, just refreshing itself after the suffocating storm.

Simultaneously, this bird flies into my childhood village, in such a stormy or post-storm moment, a little stubborn girl, holding her cheek, is also watching the raindrops hitting on the courtyard, on the roof tiles. Occasionally, one or two birds will be stopping by or flying over her.
