One week after smoke got in my eys, how can we earn back what we've been robbed (End)

I'd like to make it short n impartial, as Macau is a tiny, crazy place where social information is rather restrained to gossips among the community.

Last Sat. we had a dinner at the Affso Restaurant. Things emerged step by step:

1. Apart from a wine, we picked up 3 dishes fm the Today's Specialities list and were confirmed twice by the wait-lady (who is fat n had a big smile in the beginning) orally (she did not write it down)!

2. 1st dish - a braised seafood rice came, ok.

3. 2nd dish, came a lamb meat in pot, instead of the grilled fish we ordered. Reluctantly, the waitress retreated it, saying the list given to us for order was from yesterday and the fish we wanted not available today. Then she showed another list and asked us to make a substitute order to replace the lamb.

4. 3rd dish, a boiled misccellany traditional dish, came cold. We requested to heat it up. More reluctantly, she took it to do so. And came back later, food heated. Yet not as good as it s/b.

5. Anyway, we drank, talked and ate. Never thought there w/b storms.

6. Suddently, the wait-lady sprang up by us, stretching out the Today's List, "so, what you want to order to replace the lamb?" We checked they didnt have our fish so we rejected. "No, no, you must order another dish, you 3 persons 3 dishes, this is a new rule here." She insisted. But what kind of rule? There was no clause like what she mentioned in the list, menu, on the table or the wall.

7. Wait-lady came down to the ground-floor, reporting to the boss. We heard her exited voice discussing w/ Affso, the restaurateur. Mins later, she came up, "you must order the 3rd dish, this is the boss's rule!" But our original order was a mistake by the restaurant n there's nothing suitable for us.

"So what do you want?" wait-lady pushed.

"We want your boss!"

However, the boss never came up.

8. We were shocked and discussed what to react. We knew,( from portuguese community gossips), the boss is arrogant and will never accept complaints. The only gentleman of us, LuTe offered to go down to explain the messy situation btw their service and kitchen. I opened big my eyes because i could imagine it.

9. We two ladies sat and waited. Finally, LuTe returned with a frustrated red face. He just got some insult fm the non-sense boss. The boss shouted at him and spoke names. We asked him to tell the details but he refused. We ladies felt very angry and upset. We offered to confront Affso for a discussion but LuTe stopped us.

10.We ordered the bill. The retreated lamb dish was on the bill, with a big $$. We questioned wait-lady, who said she cant help. "Go to the boss..." was her only answer. LuTe showed his extreme meekness of "facing the music". As the last resistance, Crys told the wait-lady we wanted to take the Lamb away. "Tell the boss" was the same answer we got. We ended up paying for what we had not ordered and eaten. At last, wait-lady expressed her sorry's and said its all the boss's problem and nothing she could help.

11. We sat a little while. I felt as though smoke got in my eyes. I hardly rushed to the boss and taught him a lesson! We concluded it's Affso's mal-attitude led to this frustration. He's not smart in business. We ladies cheered a bit up but LuTe still felt down, very down. What shall we do?

12. Polite farewell. We thought we should pay back the boss's unreason and ruthlessness w/ reason and kindness. We two ladies stepped down the groundfloor, where the boss sat there drinking. We looked at him, gently, politely, waved our hands and farewell him. (I felt it's a bye-bye forever). That's our last weapon and straw. The boss stunned there, not knowing how to respond.

Aiii!

Ladies are narrow-minded. Until today I remember this mistreatment and the robbed money of the Lamb by Affso. I may send him a debit note and ask our money back, or go there again, just to finish the lamb we paid but never eat.

Any good idea / way to take back our right and dignity as customers? Please, I do need it for a revenge. Otherwise, we looked very stupid.

p.s. Both Affso and LuTe are Portuguese. Anything to do with their lusitano mentality?

Swallow, I would have subtacted the lamb from the bill myself, and only paid for the rest. If the manager wished to have the police called, so be it, and then he would have to explain to them why you should have to pay for something not given. But that is spilled milk. There's not much you can do now that you've already paid, except not go there again.

Swallow,

I agree with MyDoggie...you shouldn't pay for something that not given. You can even tell your story in the community so people will know how bad they treat the customers.

let them know... you have the right not to patronize their establishment, and "word of mouth" can be very impacting to a business success if the word is "bad service"

Thank you for all your comments. After reading you, I know the only thing is to forget n forgive. Let enimity vanish in a delightful smile, just as the odor of the last bye-bye we did to the boss.

We should have done as mydogateit suggested. But at that moment, none of us was cool enough to come up w/ this idea.

Now things cleared up more, the story-within-story is that LuTe sold this reataurant to Affso some years ago at a higher price. Maybe the current boss was revenging at former boss fr this reason. Yet then he is a paranoid. Business is business. There exists seller and buyer in the market no matter what the price is. Not to mention he has made good business for 16 years after take-over.

What else counts in this matter?

I really think inform the newspaper editor is good (if you have someone work in reporting field)

Toukki,

Macau, in spite of its gambling image, is still a village w/ ppl friendly, not aggressive, conservative. I hv friends in reporting field but they declined me in order to keep social harmony btw Chinese/Portuguese community. Hehee.. That's why you never see any active protest or dissidence in Macau compared to Hong Kong. Ppl are happy in this way!
