Exhibit of Human Genital, Dirty?! Sick?!

Where I am in, Pearl River Delta, that is, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, was the first opened up to the world seawayly. In the long past or contemporarily. But we never have an sex exhibition here.

However, in the east coastal province, Jiangshu, they are more advanced. Look, days ago, they have an exhibition featuring sex in Hangzhou, which displays big air penises at the entrances. Now they have this, more provocative to Chinese ppl, and to some Chinese FriendFinder women who disgust w/ human genitals but displayed self-disrespect by calling names hysterically at blog:

----extracted fm chinadaily---

The recent art exhibition "Experimental Space" in Nanjing pushed the bottom line of art with exhibits depicting human genitals and sex.
Series of close-ups of the female reproductive organs from different angles stole the show as the most bold and avant-garde.

The hard-core snapshots are mirror reflections of the artist's body, and have provoked jitters from viewers.

22-year-old art graduate, Wang Guiquan, smiled and explained her shocking work, saying, "Actually, it's very simple. At first, I only wanted to see what I really look like in the mirror."

Her photographs drew harsh criticisms and she had tears in her eyes on May, 22, the second day of the show, while others offered sincere support.
Unsurprisingly there were opposing views of this kind of unconventional show. Notably, visitors in their 20s and 30s condemned the exhibition most.

"The brazen exhibits just make me blush and feel sick," said a twenty something woman, adding, "I'm not old-fashioned but these soulless and erotic things are really unbearable."
The organizer of the visual stunt, claims the show is creative and spirited, "Human reproductive organs have long been kept out of sight like skeletons in a cupboard. This makes people uneasy and leads them to believe the human body is too dirty to display. "

----
I puked my laugh to the above woman commentator. Why she went there to bear the unbearable? Well, just that she has the "dirty sick" curiosity to look at human genitals. She should investigate her own before going there then there would not be any thrill. She would think, "oh, what she/he has, i also have!"

Come on! Our ancestors were more open-minded. Check at their sexy paintings, sexy literature, systematic sexology, have a look at the ancient frescos, god and goddess sculptures in Chinese temples and Indian temples. There are a vast ocean of naked human bodies, may they be in sex or not.

We are born nakedly by nature, but will disappear with a piece of cover offered by the developed society. And they call it clean, decent and civilized.

Goan,
You speak out the two sides philosophy.

Gourmet
What is art? For you it is art for anther person it isnt. Like goan put it. Some say art is something that you dont understand. That is, something confuses you and provokes thoughts.

Btw art and eroticism there is only one thin line.

Art is necessarily very surprising, possibly shocking. Because it implies creation and, by definition, a creation is something you've never seen before.

Yes. You speak of its effect on the viewers. We should allow both highbrow art and lowbrow art. Guess Gourmet thinks the once porn artist is kid of lowbrow.

Yeah this exhibit in China today is quite shocking. Great attentions have been caught as much as a Chinese painter realeased his painting of a nude model nearly 100 years ago. So it can be called art bcoz it arouse new creation and new thinking way.

Art should belong to and serve for the massive ppl, not only for a bundle of highbrows. Mao said this? or who else?

Eroticism

The ancient Chinese was very good at this. Somehow Chinese are retreated today than ancestors.

But Japanese learns and up pushes eroticism to the height, as they do in many other fields such as tea art... I am reading a Japanese painting book of Eroticism, painted in 17th century and illustrated w/ verses, wow! Wanna a look?

Gourmet,

I am reading a book abt Japanese Erotic Paintings fm 16-17 centuries. Never dated positions, charming facial expressions and grasping of eroticism.

Japanese outrival Chinese on this. Chinese sexology concentrated much more on health-keeping. Sex is for health while Japanese is sex for eroticism.

Thank you for counting arts history.

Art should have many diversities and there should be one cat. for the majority of ppl. That's why art is brought to street, schools and households.
