Did you ever offend somebody by writing - self-understanding crisis?

I did.

By my post 'Chinsee , Chinese Sister'. It hurts the feeling of the artist friend who i quoted as a example to compare the east/west values.

He scolded me to tears over a bd dinner in a nice ambience. Pointing to the big tree outside, I was told I am behind the tree and I know nothing, hence should not comment on the tree.

And I am trembling if my post I Am a Monkey would hurt another friend who inspired this story. I have considered long whether to let him have a look just for fun. Finally last night I dared to give him the printout in a good mood after walking/talking happily for 3 hrs. I'm afraid maybe fm another viewpoint, the story might be easily understood as a satir of that kind of life style and attitude, which i might hurt the esteem of that inspirator for that story. I swear the theme and my intention for writing that story is far fm that. Yet diferent reader, standing on his own point, may render different understanding to a same oject.

We tend to hold our self very high. We think we understand ourselves very well. But fact is we cant see well our inherent self and we dont accept what other ppl look at us and point out to us.

We all have this weakness. Just hope I wont hurt friends' feelings by writing. To read, digest, then bear in mind, guess the hurting is more strong than hearing something offending.

Ala.

Maybe don't show them next time.

Why cause controversy ? Unless thats the intent.

DVC,

Am I offending you by the abbreviations? Hey, but you never offend me. Whatever you said, you make me smile and laugh. Just happy.

Hey, BTW, old friend, you should catch up w/ the trend - ppl write abbr. to save time in this crazy era. Right?

I am not trembling now. The inspirator for I Am a Monkey is happy w/ my story. Well, different men w/ different mind and life experience/philosophy have different bosom. Great monkey!

Another perspective I want to raise up: are we ourselves? or we are merely how we are in other's eyes?

Goan,

Yes it's anonymous. But w/ the description he took his seat down. Artists is rich in creation but have very dif. idea abt common life. (If you revert to the Post article, you'll know why he's hurt bcoz i wrote sth kind of heavy satir). I am not complainting abt anyone and anybody. But the 'tree' example he quoted s/b true and I'll examine more b4 i write or draw conclusion. Conflicts of mind/perspective is also good - it makes us think in another way.

NIK,
Great idea. Anyway it's not good to let reality friends read your mind. Yeah? Controversy is good? DVC may say more.

Lovely swallowtsui dear,

Like you and the rest of the readers and writers out there (including myself) made mistakes. This so-called "mistakes" can be a positive outlook to some. It can also be negative perspectives/words to some.

We are not born to please everyone. When i started to blog, i was worried about pleasing and getting readers. It killed my self-esteem until i was told, "WRITE BECAUSE U LOVE IT". You can see that from your blog's comments. We love you as much as we love ourselves.

Everyone is different. You will be lucky to meet a person who knows how to look at both the positive and negative sides YET able to accept all the goods and wrongs that comes to his/her way.

Be yourself. Never lose faith.

Ann

Ann,

Thank you for your penetration into the very two sides of mistakes and understandings.

We ourselves also need to look at ppl and accept them in the way you expressed.

If being ourselves brings conflicts, we may as well pause and ponder why. Everything needs some mediation.

The question is: when pursuing our 'self', how would the 'otherness' may influence on this cause?

gourmet,

Compliments fm such a woman as you is more than compliment for me.

Regretfully, i appear to be a verbal 'philosopher', but it's not true. I always facing the self-controll problem on my EQ. I would easily sink into negative and oversensetive thinking under frustration. Any way out?

Ann,

I used to think about pursuing our self, and how would otherness influence us. I must say, this is a very big and sensitive issues for everyone who is going through their lives.

There are 3 type of people in this world.
1st: They care about you by motivating you.
2nd: They hate and jealous of you and what u have done.
3rd: They dont give a darn thing of what is happening to this world.

Its good to meet the 1st and 2nd type of people. Meeting 1st type will make you a stronger person. They give u the positive outlooks and believe it or not (?) being positive can make you stay younger and happier. 2nd type of people are those will give you discouraging words, constantly make you feel sad and useless. They are those you should THANK coz because of "cold water poured on you", tats when you should stand up even much stronger to face more "otherness".
3rd type is probably the WORST u gonna face. They dont give a darn thing what is going on. You wont even learn nor benefit nor feel happy being with them.

Just a piece of advice My very personal view.
Ann

Ann,

Agreed. The 1st and 2nd type are both benificial to us. But I think the third type of ppl is also useful for us - i mean, their attitude of "wu wei" non-thinking and non-action. When we are full of momentum, over-excited, we need to learn fm them to be less active and agreesive, and to retreat.

Maybe this is only my perspective. Tks Ann for sharing.

dvc,

There are countless ways to divide ppl into categories. How dare you object to us for this small idea? aha..

hehehe davinci is right. Of course there are many approaches. I wont mind knowing them more. To divide people into 3 parts may sound too general. In fact, they all interconnected.
