Be true

Well baby you be true to me
And I'll be true to you

Haven't been writing for a long long time. However lately often things come to mind that I want to write about, so just give it a try again. Had some troubles before between people, some split off and created their own group, could not decide who was wrong or right. Anyway I write, because I want to write, not sure if it is interesting to read.

Anyhow, my blog is about what comes to my mind to share, or what people encourage me to share (not much). Hope you enjoy reading.

Please note one thing, I am not looking for anything, I am only here to write. I have a nice girlfriend now and don't intend to change that.

Almost the worldcup tournament is finished. Then it is back to normal traffic jams again while driving home. When the dutch team was playing, I never made such fast commuting time. Such a pity...

The tournament is excellent to have a dive site for yourself, to go fishing with no cars driving by, nobody on the street, just pure quiet time.

Over media attention to create a crazyness... There is more attention to the final game then to remembering Srebrenica. Welcome in the world of commerce.

Haven't been writing for a long long time. Somehow I did not feel like it when i got caught up in a discussion between a group and some friend of mine. Since I had no control over it, it really took away my feeling for maintaining my blog. I don't like to choose sides when I can't see all the facts myself.

Anyway lately I did start to feel to write again. Although I had some readers before from the group, was nice to know, things were read. I was told some did not leave comments, too bad, but it was nice to hear. Anyway this post goes to nowhere, just start to share why i am back. Not on this site to meet any person, not to find any new friends, just because I have been writing here before. So I am not looking !!!

It is September and I still have my 5 weeks of holidays left. Roughly estimated, from the 16 weeks left, there are only 11 left for working. Time just flies.

In the last couple of months I have been doing a lot of exercise to decrease the trouble that my knees are giving me. Not that it really helps a lot, but slowly I feel comfortable to become more active. I feel the dream to do some active holidays. Doing so will just fill my energy level to a videogame superboost.

Unfortunately I have not been doing serious hiking for a long time. My passion, discovering American and Canadian wilderness, is and has been out of reach for a long time. I dream, with water dripping from my mouth, about the Pacific Coast trail. If my knees could manage I would love to do 'it' in between jobs.

But for this year I think to do a combination visiting friends with a short individual active holiday. So the direction will be Asia, some places in China to visit (Chengdu->panda, Jiazhaigou, more Yunnan province). But the active tour most likely will be Malaysia. Now I have no clue what to expect in Malaysian national parks, but the thought of hiking again, make a trip alone makes me smile from ear to ear.

Anyhow when I made my decision I have more to write about.

Pic. unrelated to the topic, but when the sewer system is not flooded by all the rain, we have some rare summer evenings like this.

I wrote about my fishing before. Even though after a few too hot weeks, we had rain rain rain, sewer floodings, I went fishing several times. I took my dad out fishing.

My dad kind of has a quick temper. If something does not go right, then he can easily start to curse. After his hospilisation last year I wanted to go fishing with him. I took him with me several times, always things went fine. Even though I am not thinking about it will soon be time to say goodbye, I think it feels good to spend time with him.
Before when I shared a boxer (=dog) with my parents, I used to have a walk with them during the weekends. But now it feels the fishing replaced it and finally made me move on a bit.

Anyhow, while I was fishing with him some weeks ago, this beauty contest came up. After each contestant had their saying 'boooeeeeeeee ooeeoee', they lined up to give us good look.
For me the winner is number 15.

Writing this feels like starting something new.
I have not been writing for a long time, not wanting to be busy with anything related to AFF.

Actually I like it, it gives me time to do other things. Among one thing I spend my time on is fishing. After a low season last year, I did catch some nice carp this year. I intend to continue fishing until late this season, no matter how lousy the weather will get. From experienced carp-hunters I heard that, when every normal thinking person is warming their hands around a fireplace, the fish are still preparing for wintersurvival. So the fish will still be active. So in case this will be the last thing you will ever read from me, then my hands probably are taken off by frostbite .

As a part of being annoyed with AFF, I rewrote my profile, not sure but to me something like 'don't write me, unless you really think we share interests that it makes interesting for us to exchange emails and possibly we could be nice friends'. I do think it works a bit. Instead of a regular flow of email, I received a few email, so no time to waiste on reading one liners or just the amazing one word emails. It is just part of being tired with people who write me without specifying the reason why they write or because they like my smile.

From two emails, one did make me hesitate if I should reply. Not because she meet my criteria, but because she stated that she is limp. But I can't carry the world, besides I think she will be strong enough herself. Anyhow I put the emails under the category 'does not understand english too well'.

Anyhow time to go to the next one. Hope I did not sound too much critizing. If so, feel free to comment.

Question: how do you get in harmony?

Not back, just need more time to move my posts here, but a friends'post and my ideas about that, make me wonder. So I just release it here, curious to get some comments. Maybe there are answers in the thousands of books about these topics, but not much of a reader of those books.

Questions on my mind:
* Are you in harmony ("in tune") from day one? (More a question for successfully married couples, but interesting to hear singles comments too)?
** If so, then is that the only way to know you are made for eachother? Or can you get in harmony over time? Or don't you need to be in harmony?
*** If not so, do you give it time to get in tune, and how long? How do you know that you will get in tune? Is love the key to success always? Do you need to see eachother frequent?

Ok, my beliefs,...
The basic question came up because of LDR and cultural differences. I believe that cultural differences can be blessing. Surely it will be a source of misunderstandings, heard that from several people before. But I think that when you love, want to give love, cultural differences can be a great thing. "Pick the best of both cultures".
But cultural differences can also lead to misunderstandings, disappointments, pain. I am convinced that with time, acceptance, respect, love, willing to listen, talk, learn, no judging, these differences can be overwon.
When two people can understand eachothers differences then I think they are "in tune".

Surely there are more differences then just cultural. I just mention the C.D. here.

My past experience with someone that I met in person first, later started emailing and then talking, was that I got to know her well, from talking over the phone a lot. 12 hrs were not uncommon. I think it helped not seeing her, just listening, but being interactive, less chance to misunderstand (so easy with written words). It felt like many cups of coffee at starbucks.

Pic. "My feet will get this big", unrelated to topic, but with the temperatures for the first time at night not below zero in march, thinking back about the flowers that hopefully will appear soon

Carnaval

This weekend and the next two days there is carnaval in the south part of Holland. People that don't want to celebrate it, escape from Holland and go skiing. This makes an excellent week for going to work, a whole week with hardly any traffic jams!

After the Danish publication of ironic drawings about Mohammed and all the heat coming from those publications, the carnaval committees said that people dressed up as Mohammed or wearing a burka, would not be tolerated and taken out.

Now I am wondering, what if a moslim lady, one that is wearing a burka in her daily life, wants to join the celebrations?

If Tom Hanks was a woman...

"What do I do here?"

"There is only one thing that you can do here, Mister Navorski. Shop!"

What if Tom Hanks was a woman...
- would she ever have left the airport?
- would she have survived by acting as airport fashion police?
- Splash would have been a boring movie

Just watched "The Terminal". I enjoyed it. It is fun to watch. I am not saying, you cant miss it, but it is enjoyable

Another travel dilemma

About two years ago I asked my mom that if she had to pick one spot that she would visit before she would be able to, where would she go. Her answer was Vienna.

So after my dad having heart problems last Christmas, even though he recovered fully, I think it is time to get her there now. Now that is an easy thing to say, but my dad is not the type of person who likes to go to cities so much. However so far my experiences are, that if you bring him somewhere, he loves it. He loved it when he visited me when I lived in Budapest. He loved it in Germany. Soooo... (sorry dad )

I talked about this idea with my sister and she agreed and their birthdays my sister gave them money and between the lines checked if it would be the airplane or the train. Well my mother was quite clear, no airplane, so the train it will be.

So now it is my mom worrying a bit, telling me that she does not want to have a lot of tension from him. That leave me with the dilemma, should I just book a hotel and two train tickets, should I talk to my dad first (but if he says no then what...)

Give me wisdom ..

Pic: Vienna, definitely a nice city, I enjoyed it. But ofcourse the best thing there was the Bruce Springsteen concert that I came to see there

If my pictures, my stories could open up the eyes of one person, to make that person see how beautiful nature is and can be, that it may change the attitude towards conservation. To be able to pass on or share the joy that I (can) have of for example seeing just a tiny simple common bird.
