GOOGL (Bard, superior data resources, and its DeepMind Technologies)
NVDA (supercomputer graphics processing unit (GPU) market)
AMD (Advanced Micro Devices)
TSM (world's largest pure-play semiconductor foundry),
META (leader in social media and online advertising and F B )
ASML (extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography tools)
SAP (global leader in enterprise resource planning software solutions)
I am a Taiwanese-American who has been residing in USA for 43 years. I am bilingual. Of course, I own 3 Taiwanese-American's semiconductor company stocks, that are NVDA, AMD and TSM. NVDA reported excellent earning aftermarket of 5/24/23. Its stock soared 高漲 to $395. My average price is $149, I sold 1/3 shares for profits, but still own 2/3 of total shares. The next morning pre-market jumped to $399.50. I set to sell more shares but didn't get executed 執行. I felt "short-squeez" the NVDA up to the sky.

My AMD stock also jump up. TSM is the best semiconductor foundry, but due to the geopolitical, TSM didn't soar 高漲 as NVDA. Warren Buffett bought TSM as his top #10 stock, but then he sold all his TSM said due to geopolitical reason (CCP might invade Taiwan).

AVGO (semiconductor co.) soared to $814.98 because Apple announced on 5/23/23 a multiyear, multibillion-dollar agreement with Broadcom AVGO for the chipmaker to supply 5G wireless components. My AVGO average price was $435.33, it jumped to $814.98. Of course, I sold all of my AVGO.
The U.S. inflation is still high, Fed Reserve (FOMC) maybe will hike the interest rate in June or July meetings to tame the inflation. Some investors said FOMC may pause June rate hike but hike in July. FOMC already hiked interest to 5%, stock market will plummet violently. I took profits while I can. Buy low, sell high.

If "debt ceiling" standoff can't reach bipartisan agreement by June 5th, stock market will shake downward.

Russia has invaded Ukraine since Feb 24, 2022 and we can't see peace just yet. Russia and China economy are both in crisis, but both dictators are still spending their people's money to consolidate their leaderships in their countries. Communists are ridiculous, outrageous.

Be careful with stock trading. AVGO is too high, I sold all my shares, please look its chart soared to the sky. I am shorting AVGO.

Good luck on your trading!! Happy Memorial Day.

Debt ceiling standoff

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen urged Congress to raise its debt ceiling, warning that a US default would produce an “economic and financial catastrophe” that would trigger a global economic downturn and risk undermining the country's ability to provide global leadership. Furthermore, Janet Yellen says "US default would trigger a global economic downturn" and " it should be ‘unthinkable’ for the U.S. to default on its debt".

1. The nation may run out of money to pay all its bills as soon as June 1, the so-called “X-date.”

2. The government wouldn’t be able to pay everyone on time. It would likely prioritize payments to investors holding U.S. Treasury bonds, to avoid a “technical default.”

3. Payments like Social Security, Medicare, tax refunds, military salaries and others would likely be delayed.

4. Democrats and Republicans haven’t yet reached an agreement to raise or suspend the debt ceiling and avoid that outcome.

Chinese ambassador, Lu Shaye 卢沙野 sparks European outrage over suggestion former Soviet states don’t exist. Lu Shaye 卢沙野 is a Chinese diplomat currently serving as Chinese Ambassador to France and Monaco. Lu is popularly referred to as a leading advocate of "wolf-warrior diplomacy", which he has promoted.

Chinese ambassador, Lu Shaye's comment on Sunday, 4/23/2023 dismayed all 14 out of 15 European countries including Armenia, Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan except Russia. We know the USSR collapsed in December 1991 & left in its place 15 independent states. (The USSR leader, Mikhail Gorbachev closes his resignation speech after delivering it at the Kremlin in Moscow on Dec. 25, 1991.) Those 15 countries have their independence and their own "sovereignty 主權". These 15 countries do exist as individual countries since 12/25/1991.

The remarks by China’s ambassador to France Lu Shaye, who said during a television interview that former Soviet countries don’t have “effective status in international law,” have caused diplomatic consternation, especially in the Baltic states. Lu told the TV host, Darius Rochebin to get education for USSR history. In fact, Lu is the person who should get education. Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia would be summoning Chinese representatives to ask for clarification, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis confirmed on Monday, 4/24/2023. Ukraine, Moldova, France and the European Union also all hit back with criticisms of Lu’s comments.
In August 2022, after Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, Lu said that the people of Taiwan had been brainwashed by pro-independence ideas saying, "I'm sure that as long as they are re-educated 再教育, the Taiwanese public will once again become patriots".

In December 2022, Lu said of the 2022 COVID-19 protests in China that, "Foreign forces came into play already on the second day".

Taiwan's President Tsai meets Kevin McCarthy at Reagan Library

It is an unprecedented event for an incumbent Taiwan female president to meet U.S. House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy at Reagan Library today, April 5, 2023. As you know, U.S. House Speaker is the 2nd in line for President.

(I have visited Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif in Dec. 2008, please refer to my profile pictures.)

As you can see, during the meeting Taiwan's president Tsai can speak English fluently without any interpreter to translate when she talked to House Speaker, McCarthy and other 18 Congress members including Mr. Mike Gallagher directly. If you Google Tsai Ing-wen education, you will find out she graduated from London School of Economics and Political Science (1980–1984) and Cornell Law School (1978–1980). There were no "Cultural Revolution" in Taiwan, females can pursue high education.

I am very happy to hear Mr. McCarthy to address 稱呼, 頭銜 Miss. Tsai as "Taiwan President". As a Taiwanese-American, I am very grateful to Mr. McCarthy. Taiwan's Presidents are voted by any Taiwanese over 18 y/o. People elected their leaders, presidents just like any Democracy countries. I have been in the USA for 43 years and voted for U.S. presidents every 4 years. Unlike the CCP leader only got 2,952 votes that represent for 1.4 billion Chinese people and they voted by raising hand up, and only one candidate and all 2,952 CCP unanimously 無異議地;全體一致地 voted for Xi for his 3rd term five years. In Democracy countries have at least bipartisan system and primary election with many candidates.

Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen vowed to "defend the peaceful status quo" in which the people of Taiwan can continue to thrive in a free and open society. Her remarks came after a meeting with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy that Beijing had warned against. President Tsai said "unwavering support, reassures the people of Taiwan that we are not isolated, we are not alone."

I am a patriot to Taiwan and the USA equally. God bless the USA and Taiwan. Peace on Earth, stop the war between Russia and Ukraine. No more killing and destroying.

China is Not a Developing Country Act H.R. 1107 - The House unanimously passed a bill on Monday, 3/27/2023, that would direct the Secretary of State to work toward stripping the People’s Republic of China of its “developing country 開發中國家” label in international organizations. H.R. 1107 would require the Department of State to influence international organizations to reclassify China as a high income, upper middle income, or developed country 發達國家 instead of as a developing country. It also would require the department to dissuade those organizations from granting China any preferential treatment as a developing country.

Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act of 2023; H.R 1154, - China is the only country in the world to have an industrial-scale organ trafficking practice that harvests organs from executed prisoners of conscience.

Permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) 永久性正常貿易關係 - legal designation in the United States for free trade with a foreign nation. ‎History · ‎U.S. and China. The Committee on Ways and Means, to whom was referred the bill (H.R. 4444) to authorize extension of nondiscriminatory treatment (normal trade relations treatment) to the People's Republic of China, having considered the same, report favorably thereon with an amendment and recommend that the bill as amended do pass.

Caribbean cruises (from Brazil to Bahamas)

I am considering a Caribbean cruises from Brazil to Bahamas for 22 days. I have been to many European countries but never been to South America.

Due to Russia has invaded Ukraine for over a year and don't see peace in sight, Europe is not in peace. So, I decided to see South America for a change.

I had a 36 days solo trip to Italy, in 2018, lots of walking. My Dutch female friend booked Rhine & Moselle rivers cruise and both of us paid in full in Nov 2018, a few days after I returned to the USA from Italy. The original river cruise was in July 2020. Then the pandemic spread to the world in January 2020. The travel agency postponed twice for the river trip. Finally, I traveled solo (the Dutch woman fell down) to 6 European countries. I felt cruise is good that I don't need to drag luggage to different hotels. My luggage stayed in my cabin, while we had less land sightseeing walking during the day. The breakfast, lunch and dinner all provided on the ship. It was an enjoyable experience eating the delicious French cuisine (Foie gras, Crème Brulee) and seeing beautiful scenery at same time.

With these two reasons, I am thinking to join Caribbean cruise (from Brazil to Bahamas). The weather is good there and people are very passionate. Brazil is famous in BBQ various meats. Brazilians speak Portuguese instead of Spanish.

Bank crisis, not again

You probably heard the recent "bank failure" from news. It took me for a while to figure out those banks problems. My bank CEO/Chairman passed away in January 2022 (a year ago), so I can't ask him the reasons for those banks failed.

Those banks included SVB (Silicon Valley Bank in Silicon Valley, Calif), Signature Bank, FRC (First Republic Bank in San Francisco) and CS (Credit Swisse a global investment bank in Switzerland).

We all knew that there were many banks bankrupted due to sub-prime loans in 2008 when I was in China for 8 days/6 nights, my banker friend emailed me from the USA said the banks were not leading loans. We witnessed the Lehman Brothers collapsed, Indymac Bank bankrupted on July 11, 2008, and many banks had to be bought by big banks. such as JP Morgan (JPM) bought Washington Mutual, Bank of America (BAC) bought Merrill Lynch, Wells Fargo (WFC) bought Wachovia, Fannie Mac (FNM) & Freddie Mac (FRE) – de-listed on 6/17/2010, ..... In 2008, people couldn't pay monthly mortgage payments on time, so they dumped houses to the lender banks. The banks wanted the borrowers to pay payments but not to foreclose their houses. My banker friend told me to buy houses in cash. Lucky me that someone in Taiwan wanted to buy my mom's house in Taiwan. Because my mom was weak to walk (in wheelchair) due to arthritis. I got the "Power of Attorney" to represent her and went back to Taiwan to sell our family house in Taiwan. I wired back the sold proceeds to the USA in my mom account in 2011. I asked my banker friend how to invest. He said buy rental properties in Las Vegas, so I bought 5 properties with my mom sold proceeds in 2011. My mom passed in Sept 2013. I inherited her properties.

I am a pharmacist, don't know much about "Finance" but I remember my banker friend's advice. I have NEVER invested in Bond market, but I invest in stocks.

From recent news, I learned Silicon Valley Bank failed within 48 hours. I read the news said banks use the depositors money to invest. SVB bought lots of Bonds when the interest rate was very low. Recently SVB sold its stock and Bonds and lost of billions of money. Higher inflation often results in higher interest rates. Persistently elevated inflation altered the landscape for bond investors. If interest rates move higher, stock investors become more reluctant to bid up stock prices because the value of future earnings looks less. so, SVB had "double whammy"雙重災難;禍不單行;

Axis of Evil 邪惡軸心國

U.S. President George W. Bush and originally referred to Iran, Iraq, and North Korea. It was used in Bush's State of the Union address on January 29, 2002, less than 5 months after the 9/11 attacks, and often repeated throughout his presidency.
20 years later, the ‘Axis of Evil’ is bigger, bolder — and more evil that includes China, Russia, Iran and North Korea as the primary belligerents. China has by far the largest army in the world, 2 million personnel, roughly 50% more than the U.S. China also has the largest navy in the world, 777 vessels (as of 2020). Russia has 603 and the USA 490. The largest navy doesn’t mean the most powerful. The World Population Review points out that the U.S. Department of Defense counts the relevant vessels differently and claims China has 355 ships and the United States 293. But the United States still has more high-value ships, such as aircraft carriers, than China. Even so, one wonders why China needs the largest army and navy in the world if its intentions are peaceful.
All above mentioned "Axis of Evil" countries possess Nuclear bombs. Those countries leaders are dictator 獨裁者.

Chinese spy balloon flies over the United States sky

A Chinese spy balloon has been flying over the USA for a couple of days, U.S. officials said on 2/2/2023, in what would be a brazen act just days ahead of a planned trip to Beijing by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Mr. Blinken has announced on 2/3/2023 that he will postpone his visit to China which originally scheduled to departure in the evening.

Fighter jets were mobilized, but military leaders advised President Joe Biden against shooting the balloon out of the sky for fear debris could pose a safety threat, advice Biden accepted, U.S. officials said.

The U.S. took "custody" of the balloon when it entered U.S. airspace and had observed it with piloted U.S. military aircraft, one of the officials told reporters on condition of anonymity.

18 US Congressmen calling for Normalized ties w/ Taiwan

Congressmen Tom Tiffany and Scott Perry introduced a bill that called for the U.S. to abandon the "one China policy," resume formal relations with Taiwan, and begin negotiations on a U.S.-Taiwan free trade agreement. Over the past nine months, the bill has gained 16 additional cosponsors, all of whom are Republicans thus far.

In addition to Tiffany and Perry, the cosponsors include Doug LaMalfa, Debbie Lesko, Diana Harshbarger, Nicole Malliotakis, Scott DesJarlais, Gregory W. Steube, Ralph Norman, Lisa McClain, Glenn Grothman, Kat Cammack, Tracey Mann, Marry Miller, Ronny Jackson, Louie Gohmert, and Brian Babin. Tiffany's office on Monday (Dec. 6) notified Taiwan News that Representative Tom McClintock will also co-sponsor the bill.

Tiffany's spokesperson suggested that this shows "growing support for a change in U.S.-Taiwan policy on Capitol Hill." The congressman's representative said that Tiffany has been reaching out to members directly to gain support for the resolution.

He noted that all the cosponsors are currently Republicans but stressed that the congressman is seeking to reach out to Democrats with the hopes of making the effort bipartisan next year.

In a tweet posted on Dec. 3, Tiffany wrote that the "Carter-era 'one China policy' is dishonest and outdated." He said that it is time for the U.S. to lead by example and "recognize Taiwan as a free and independent nation."

He added that the U.S. does not need a "permission slip from China" to engage in normal relations with "our friends and allies."
Sen. Young: ‘Every member of Congress should visit Taiwan’
KEVIN McCARTHY promised to retrace NANCY PELOSI’s steps and visit the island nation once he became speaker.
