Personality Disorders

I have always been interested in the field of psychology, particularly to the studies about the personality disorders. It somehow helps me to understand why some people behave the way they do. It's hard to be with people with this kind of disorder. One has to be more patient and compassionate or else they will end up with some kind of disorder too. My interest in this subject started years ago when i was still with a person with a narcissistic personality disorder. It was a life that you can never imagine. But thank god i came out of the experience stronger and my self-esteem still intact. But somehow the experience left a scar inside me that will forever remind me to be cautious about certain things. My heart goes out to the people and their loved ones who is suffering from this kind of disorder. I've learned that treatment is not that easy due to unawareness of the disorder, unawareness of treatment options, and scarce and expensive treatment/therapy especially here in the phils. I have always contemplated on getting a degree in this field. But i guess it's kinda late now for a career change. Also it's an impossible dream taking into consideration the financial constraints. Well, i couldn't do anything more but just to hope that things will get better in this field in the future.

Narcissistic personality disorder is not the most servere type of personality disorder.

The most servere personality disorders is the Borderline Personality Disorder.

In borderline personality disorder, the person is so fearful of abandonment and lonlieness, that he/she will do anything to befriend anyone, just for companionship. And if rejected, they will be consumed with rage and anger, so much so that they will either attack their object of scorned affection, or attempted suicidal gestures to try to regain the love, real or imagined, that was losted. The borderline is obsessed with ruminating thoughts of imagined love and friendships. Nothing in this world matters except the affection from another being. They are always seeking a lover, or a best friend, or a substitute father and mother. The world does not feel complete until he/she is beholden and loved by another. The world is a lonely planet to them, and they need constant attentions everyday.

When things do not went well, they also drank alcohol, or drugs, from cannabus, to cocaine to heroin. With drug and alcohol consumption, their brain is fried, and the compounded problem of a fried brain cells, makes they unable to focus, concentrate, motivate. Everything in this world is a fog, never knowing when is he/she going.

many movies in Hollywood is made about Borderline Personality Disoders. They have such a tragic endings.

hello nik,

thanks for dropping by. i saw the movie entitled Girl Interrupted. Winona Ryder is diagnosed with borderline personality in that movie, along with the other girls with personality disorders too. it's really sad...

how about this paranoid personality disorder? i think a lot of people have this... only in different severity... do u think there's still hope for this people even if they don't get proper treatment? like a cold that just gets away after sometime?
