Forest - 森林

Haven't posted in a while, so busy with school.
It's mid summer. Remember to get out and take a walk in a forest or wilderness area. Enjoy your life.

Forest

Into a quiet forest
Winds the faintest breeze
Picking up small down blossoms
Floating them into a ray of sun

Amidst a dewed meadow
A carpet of wild fern glistens
Reflecting light into faint rainbows
On a quiescent, verdant path

By an upland pond
It's surface cool, reflective
As the mists of morning drift off
A mottled golden carp
Pauses near the surface

Hold these thoughts
For a moment then
Till love whispers softly,
For it is here
That time catches itself
Lingers awhile
And life
Sings anew.

This is a google translation into Chinese. I did cross check for meaning and it seemed close enough. I have no real idea how it will come across in Chinese. Any comments or alternate translations appreciated.

OK, here is the update.

Into a quiet forest - Meant as starting something
Winds the faintest breeze - concepts of wind bringing change
Picking up small down blossoms - floating things defy gravity, somewhat magical
Floating them into a ray of sun - gently coming out of darkness into light.

This stanza begins the poem as two things. One is just the simple beauty of imagining walking into a forest, however the reader wishes to imagine a forest, with sunbeams coming through the foliage, and seeing the wind pick up some sort of seed pod that would float on air, and moving into the ray of sun. So, it creates this image as a beginning.

Second, I wrote this to a young woman I was hoping to establish a relationship with, and it was given to her personally with some nice flowers. Thus, there are the undertones of beginning a relationship, hoping for a beautiful sort of thing to evolve. The rest of the poem follows this thought, along with the initial poetic idea of natural beauty, contemplation and hope.

The young woman thanked me, but said she had someone else in mind, whom she later married. Their marriage lasted for about ten years, no children, till he died of cancer about eight years ago. We are still friends. She has since moved to another state to follow another love interest and get into selling real estate.

Mary, yes you are correct. All the technical language things aside, I really appreciate your interest, effort and willingness to help. Thanks.

OK, have you read either Dream of Red Mansion, 石头记, or Butterfly Lovers, 梁山伯与祝英台. I have also read a somewhat more controversial book by Anchee Min called Red Azalea, 杜鹃红. Any of these would be good for a blog, or any other suggestion you may have.

Great! We can start with Dream of Red Mansion.
