China and Japan standoff, will it be esculated to a higher level???

I am not sure how many of you read about the China fishing boat captain being arrested illegally in the disputed territory “Diaoyu Islands”. China had summoned Japan ambassador 7 times, demanding the release of the captain but Japan refused. The captain was accused of colliding with Japanese coast guard boat but actually the fishing boat was sandwiched by two Japan coast guard boats. The fishing boat was rammed by one of the coast guard boat and have a hole at the front part of the fishing boat. Why would an unarmed fishing boat intentionally rammed into the two armed boats??? That is the logic that I can’t understand.

Why would the Japan being so hostile? The disputed territory has been discussed and agreed on the 1978 sino-Japan treaty that both countries will put the dispute aside and to resolve it in the future. Both countries also agree on not present military force in the disputed territory. So, the arrest of the captain is illegal and Japan has no right to make the arrest. A country can enforce their laws in their own country but not on another country. For example, US laws can apply to the US only and not in Canada, or Mexico, or in any other country.

China takes a stronger stand on the captain release and suspended high level bilateral talks with Japan. Does it mean anything to Japan? Who know…. I really don’t want to see this matter be escalated to a high level. I hope that Japan realized their wrong doing and release the captain unconditionally.

Hostilities, are more connected to the fact, that Japans economy is struggling while China now has the industrial position Japan enjoyed for more than 35+ yrs.. Japan has always held a concept of being superior to China, and now it cannot match the economic growth that China is experiencing, and Japan, during its hey day, escalated its wage structure so high, it ultimately sold off industry, as well as over-leveraged things, and ran around the world trying to buy up marquee properties, and when it crashed in the mid 80's, Japan never recovered. It had sold off and extracted all the value out of property that the elders worked hard to acquire, and the Japanese globe trotted living the status life, and now they have high unemployment, the lifetime jobs are gone, and they have a ever growing homeless populations, and their young people don't see any avenue to regain opportunity. So, they play hard ball, trying to hold on to some allusive stature. But the unfortunate thing is, they can't attract industry, because they were too thirsty to have a claim of a very very high standard of living. and the higher they raised the standard, they more they shipped away jobs.
this left money only in the hands of the rich, and they got richer, while the general population got more impoverished as the bulk of people. Many moved away with their wealth, and many dominate others with their wealthy, but as a nation, its unable to compete in the over-all nor can it ever get back what it threw away. when it became too elite, to retain its own industrial functions.

Remember World War II, Japan aligned itself with Germany, because it knew it did not have natural resources to meet demand, and they tried to take over the whole Pacific, with thoughts it could establish rights to any place that had any resources. and it lost terribly in that aim as well.

They have too many areas where they have a closed door society, and they have a great deal of work to do, to open up to become a global melting pot, because they don't like very many people from very many places. Which is very unfortunate. The strategic mindset of dominating things, has to be changed or they will fall further..
