Why I leave a lot of clearance between me and other drivers

I drove into Pittsburgh yesterday to see my dad in the hospital and clean his apartment. On the way there I found myself behind a reckless driver. I don't know if the guy was drunk, a diabetic or what. Anyway, he swerved over into the other lane several times. One time he almost hit a pickup truck. Another time he almost hit a telephone pole-the 911 operator heard that one as a yell in his ear. And the final time he refused to yield to a Mac Truck until it honked four times. A pickup truck then got in front of me. I wanted to warn him, so I put on my hazard lights. Soon after the guy in front of him swerved again into the other lane, he put his on too. The guy then pulled over like we were the cops. The man in the pick up truck in front of me then pulled over to check out the guy as did a guy from a big truck behind me.
I just told the guy to move his pick up the rest of the way off the road and that help was on its way. Saddest part was that there was a small in the front seat.

that's a trip, people do many things, stranges.. I was at a place getting breakfast yesterday, and a woman in line had two kids in the back seat, they were hanging out the window and jumping up and down, I got out of my care, and walked to the womans car, and said excuse me, but are you aware that if anything happen to those kids without seat belts, that you will end up being placed in jail.. ( there was not a child seat in sight, an the seat belts were not were visible)..
I went back to my care, and the lady proceed to apply her make-up and comb her hair, got her food, and drove off, and the kids still hanging out the window with their arms waving all about..
_______________

I agree with you, it is not good to drive too close to people, I try to stay my distance in the car and the bike.. one rule of thumb I learned at the harley riding class, they provided when I bought the bike, was.. be sure you can count to 4.. by watching the care in front, past a point you choose to mark, and then let the car pass that point, and count to 4, if you reach that point before you get to 4, you are too close..

they did their study based on reaction time, between seeing, and reacting, and the things that need to be done within that time frame.

accidents are more prone, when we have limits within our reaction time..

so you I'd say .. are a good driver to pay attention, not to be too close,

SG! Hi ya, hope to see you in chat soon!
As to that guy, who knows what was wrong with him. Most likely he was DUI.

Touch,
Wow, that woman shouldn't of had kids. I remember when I was up at a park beach, this woman who didn't know me asked me if I though her baby was dehydrated. Obviously it was. Then she asked her friend who was a guy to watch it. He was a good six feet away. So odd.
