Should I buy the bike?

It's a BRAND NEW 2008 1800cc cruiser and it retails for $14,000. I'll have to have it shipped from a thousand miles away (or fly there and drive it back), but I can get it for about $8,000. I used to ride a big bike (1400cc) but, in Wisconsin, it's an ordeal "putting it up" for the season: remove the battery, add the gas anti-freeze. And then, by the time spring returns, the days are cold and rainy and by the time I would try to start it in May, the battery would be dead and the engine not nearly as peppy as it was when I shut it down for good in October. Finally, five months later, after some cold, wet fall days, it's over.

Now, in Texas, I can ride all year long and, with my 40-mile, round-trip weekday commute, I can use the HOV lane for 30 of those miles. Houston drivers are pretty bad, so I may eventually be true to my late mother, who really didn't like me riding motorcycles: "Mom, when I die, it will be on a motorcycle...no, actually it will be after flying off one!" Hahaha.

I just don't know what to do. The longer I wait, the better chance for it to be sold to someone else. Maybe my head is stopping my heart from spending the money. Or vice versa. ENOUGH - time to get back to my CFE exam review course...test in less than three weeks! Wish me luck...better yet, wish me knowledge.

It's worthy of thought.. I have two 1800cc bikes, they are heavy..
If you are considering a big Cruiser, the 1800cc is ok on Straight road, but it is not very maneuverable in a emergency avoidance situations.
I've found it can 'sling one to the ground, quicker than one can realize what happen".. therefore, turning 90 degree, or trying to make quick turns to avert a situations, can pose challenges. From the price and size, it appears you may be looking at something similar to the Suzuki Boulevard M109R.
which is what I have, its a beautify machine, but it is one that requires great focus when riding. It is not great on bumps in the road, and the turning radius is "wide". As to power, its readily available.
People on Cell Phones is a very big issue, because they don't pay attention to where everything around them when they talk and drive. And mercy, there are still people, who drive and text while doing so.

Decision has a lot to consider either way you choose to select..

Texas, has a "No Helmet Required" status. I sometimes ride to Texas, but I always ride with a helmet, but I see many who ride without it in Texas....

One year and it's been a good bike. I've had a few close calls and it does hang very low in the turns, so I've scraped the warning nuts a couple of times on left turns at low speed. But, overall, I'm satisfied with the C109R.
