Difference of Using Credit Card in USA and Philippines When you pay $100 whole in the USA, the people in the counter will be doubtful of you. The money you payed will be checked very well if it's real or not. The equivalent of US$100 in the Philippines is around 4,600 pesos. When you pay 5,000 pesos in the Philippines, it is normal. When someone pays for a one item that's worth more than five thousand pesos, it's given that you are in the above average family class. when you pay for a one item for 20,000 pesos, it's given that you come from the upper class family. Filipinos were not really used to using credit cards until just this decade. Whenever we go to USA, we make sure that we always have a penny or small bills. If not, we will take a long time in the counter just because of the person in the counter who is doubting us. Credit cards boomed in the Philippines just around this decade because life became harder for the many. With credit cards, people were allowed to pay on installments. Even my mom do not use her credit card before. she just have it with her for an emergency purpose. other than that reason, she does not use it. my mom started using her credit card when she knew about the point system that the banks has. Unlike in the USA, people were used to using credit card in all that they buy. we hated in the Philippines the credit cards because of it's other hidden fees. i have not applied for my own credit card yet. but it's good to know that there are prepaid credit cards. i'll apply there soon and i'll be able to upgrade here now.  and also, if you can pay whole amount in cash, then why not? it's easier.
