No Offense...


I try not to use that phrase. Why?
It's an excuse to insult someone... a one second warning you're going to drop a bomb on them.

"No offense Bob, but your unstable personality guarantees all your relationships to be short lived."

There are other ways to get your point across without being degrading, obnoxious or offensive and 'protect' yourself by saying "No Offense"

when did "why' become unimportant ?

the: who, what, when, where, how and why? are all part of the discovery process..

yes, they could each be used in a condescending context, but maybe no offense is a good start to indicate that it's an information inquiry, more than an accusatory inference.

Beyond, the blog title is "no offense" not "why"

I cringe when I hear people say "no offense" because I know the next words will be something that could hurt or make the other person angry.

Compare that to "I accept no responsibility for what I'm about to say next".
