That's a lizard dear... and a big one at that! We went to the lake today to feed the turtles and a lizard came out to greet us. He was about two feet long and very prehistoric looking. My wife tossed him some pieces of bread but he just stared at her motionless for the few minutes we were there feeding the other creatures. We counted 5 turtles... the 2 largest ones were a long neck variety, easily 18" long shell and their necks stuck out another 12 inches. Very unusual but they love eating chunks of bread! Now we are saving bread in plastic bags and stop by the lake whenever we are traveling in that direction.   |

As far as I know, reptiles are cold blooded so they should have no trouble surviving radical temperature changes. I used to work in Coral Springs and lizards from the Everglades infested the canals there. In the evening, when car headlights lit up the roads, they would stand on their hind legs and run. Yeah, like a scene form Jurassic Park!

Trusty, I'm surprised to hear they couldn't survive the cold.
