Quality of life...

I had my cholesterol checked three months ago and again recently. The numbers are dropping. So why do I look so much older in such a short period of time?

I do... if you look at my recent photos, my face looks thinner. I'm thinner.

My weight went down this year. I'm estimating I peaked at 220 pounds (100kg) and I got down to my goal of 200 (90.9kg) when my fiance arrived.

I'm holding between 200 and 205 now. Diet change is the single biggest contributor to the weight loss. Smaller meals, less meat, less sugar and fatty foods.

Back to appearance. If you remember Bill Clinton looked great before he had heart surgery. After, he had a major change of diet (no more hamburgers) and I would guess a stream of cholesterol reducing drugs had his blood vessels opened where they were partly clogged.

Statins are drugs that help the body reduce cholesterol. I tried that 10 years ago and got really sick from it. 3 years ago, I tried a cardiologist who favors statins and it appeared to be a repeat of a decade ago so I stopped taking them.

I felt these medicines, in an attempt to improve the quality of life were actually causing other problems. I'm told I shouldn't do natural weight loss and that statins are the best thing for me. However, the advice came from someone who makes a living prescribing statins and this worries me.

There is a a place and time for drugs of sorts, but equally so, it becomes our need to make the changes so we can depend less on the drugs. The matter involved catching things early enough to be able to reverse what we can, some damages are irreversible.

I recently had to take a hormone shot, it causes the glucose to be erratic and the blood pressure to be erratic and the cholesterol. I have 6 month before this stuff wears out of my system. My glucose spiked to over 300, but within a week i was able to get it back down. At first the doctor started talking about insulin, I told him... Nope, lets give the hormone times to spread in my system and I make the some changes. I did make some changes and it went down. Now, my mission is to stop smoking. I wore the patch but it breaks my skin out in welts where the patch is. but I did notice not only did some of the 'air" leave my stomach, I slept better and felt better. I now have to endure the patch, because the welts will go away, so the matter is to get the cigarettes gone.
