Earschplittin loudbooming bassbassbass... For New Years Eve we went to Gulfstream Racetrack. 2 generations ago it was only a huge parking lot and a race track. Now, it has 2 casinos, shopping, salons and more than 10 restaurants. In the center of the pavilion is an outside pit where people congregate and listen to live music. The atmosphere was a mixture of who can look the best and who can look the worst! The high volume music could make your eyes blur and thumping bass that you can feel deep into your spine. Laser lights from all directions with food and drinks from several vendors. Hamburgers were $8 and soda was $3. Located along the Intracoastal Waterway, we could see Miami Beach from the top deck that overlooks the racetrack. Very pretty and some fireworks could be seen 10 miles to the north and south of us. It was nearly midnight and we had walked around the place twice... deciding there was no reason to stay any longer, we headed home. Since it's primarily a racetrack, I wouldn't mind returning on a Saturday when they have races and some family activities. I took some photos of the huge Pegasus statue being built at the front entrance that was under construction. I expect it to be completed soon. .   |

It's probably because they have relatives in the landscaping & trash removal business. My daughter lives in a community lined with Royal Palms and every other day the city comes by picking up fronds from the streets.
