Am new to this...

A word of advice. If you read a profile where the member claims "Am new to this" and says they are from America, the truth is they are not. I won't go into a long explanation but you have no less than a 95% chance they are getting ready to scam you!

On the contrary, I have been on Chinese FriendFinder since August 2004 (10+ years). I know every trick in the book. I can smell a scammer from thousands of miles. All those emails said they are U.S. Army Generals, Cardiologist MD, engineer lives in Beverly Hills, .... they are fake. I caught them all. Scammers don't want to meet, so I always ask to meet that person.

Some other phrase scammers use are "if you don't mind", "Am General xxxxx by name", "engineer by trade". One most ridiculous scammer emailed me said "Hi gorgeous, what are you doing for living". That proved he didn't read my user's name. I provided my first name in my profile, but over 10+ years only about 5 persons saw my first name and addressed me as my first name.

Honesty is the best policy.
