Snug as a bug in a rug...

My wife is struggling with English slang words. I understand this and try to limit the amount of slang I use.

She spends a few hours every day studying English which is mostly word study. The TV has closed captioning and that helps. We found a few courses in conversational English on YouTube, but I'm not convinced the ones I found are worthwhile.

The local high school starts an new trimester of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) next month and I'll enroll her in that program.

lao suggested italki online language lessons. I have that and Babble to consider.

Sometimes she gets stuck with the pronunciation of words... like sour when she means shower or soap when she means soup. That's all small stuff. She works hard at this and I'm satisfied with her improvement!

Just last week she remembered "Ride the pony"

Wow Daisy... that's a generous offer... xie xie.
My wife was born and raised in Guangxi, Nanning city and speaks Cantonese and Mandarin.

Eight years ago, I bought a set of Mandarin tutorial CD's and only listened to the first 20 minutes. For some reason I abandoned learning Chinese, so my wife and I only communicate in English. It's forced her to learn more. We both have instant translation apps on our phones that works perfectly when teaching her something new.

She and I have a similar ability... in that, we can repeat what we hear and 5 seconds later don't know what we said

I spoke to my wife and she said yes, she is interested in your offer.
