Ladyboy... when Paul became Paula... I first heard this word on a story about a young boy from Thailand who was having hormone injections to become a woman. This must be the transgendered decade as it seems every day Yahoo is making news about someone (named Jenner) who is undergoing a sex change operation. I've read many only go through the cosmetic part of hormones and breast implants and rarely go to the castration part... maybe they fear going under the knife? 20 years ago I worked at a company with a coworker named Paul who used to dress in women's clothing (drag) and hang out at gay nightclubs dancing on stage for the weekend shows. During the day, he appeared like any average person but he revealed to another coworker this weekend lifestyle. Over the course of a few months, there was a transformation as he had tattoos removed from his arms and went through sessions of electrolysis having facial hair burned at the follicle. For his vacation, he traveled to Mexico to get the final (surgical) part of the transformation that involved castration and reconstruction. That's all the gory detail I'll blog for now... I think you get the picture. He had the legal name and gender change that included trips to the psychologist to help with the transformation. Paul essentially became Paula. |
