drone ON... I know drones (or quadcopters) make it to the news nearly every day, but I really have no interest in that side of the hobby. Over the years, I dropped out of model helicopters (and returned) several times. The last run before a 10 year hiatus has me with a 60 size model helicopters with a 36" rotor span in my storage shed that greets me whenever I go in there for something. Too dangerous to and expensive to consider reviving, I've been reviewing some of the new electric models that are at least half the size of what I used to fly years ago. I was gifted a toy drone for Christmas and and flew it like a drone for the first week, now I'm itching to have it bank corners and do maneuvers like a helicopter. This has revived my interest in helicopters again. A coworker said I should stay with drones and get a $500 model that is sophisticated enough to run with GPS and remote video telemetry. However, my eye is seeking a 3D fully aerobatic helicopter instead. Unless I hit the lotto (and not 2 numbers getting a free ticket) I seriously doubt I'll pursue both hobbies. Until I decide... it's drone ON for now. .
