Numbers... I got up Saturday morning at 10 minutes after 6, checked for messages. There were a few scammers who had viewed my profile. Less than 300 people were online. I had been shopping for tires all week and I was told to get there before 8am and there would be no waiting. I got to the tire store around 7:30 planning to buy 4 Goodyear 215/45 R17 tires at the buy 2 get 2 free sale they are running this weekend. Instead, I found a Sumitomo 215/50 R17 tire at a lower price with nearly the same specifications. The 50 profile is nearly 1/2" taller overall than my worn out tires and I wanted a taller profile tire for 2 reasons. 1) low profile tires give a much harder ride and I didn't want my kidneys relocated to the middle of my stomach and 2) I say my car speedometer is off by 10%. It was clocked 2 ways being off. At 30 miles per hour, I'm actually doing 27, or 1 mile for every 10, making it 3 at 30. The GPS app on my phone reads exactly the same as the radar speed signs in 2 of the gated communities I've been working in. The car dealer says they tested 2 new cars of the same model and found they are also reading the same as my car... I'm told it's factory specification and not adjustable, therefore it's something they cannot help me with. I believe that is BS. So, getting a taller tire resolved the 2 issues... actually 3 issues as the tread design on these new tires is highly rated in wet conditions and Miami is a tropical climate. Rain is a season here. The tire store got me out in about 90 minutes and that included all the question and answers me and the manager went through including him pulling out 3 different brands to show me the tread and profile design. I got home way before 10:00am and decided to do some home projects. I headed over to the window repair store for a new screen on the bathroom window. That's been on my do list for more than 1 year. I tried to make it there 1 month ago leaving my house at 12:45... but it was too late as they close at 1:00pm on Saturday. This time I was successful and they made a new screen while I waited. It took less than 10 minutes for $14 and he included 4 clips. Miami weather was cold on Saturday, at 49 degrees when I got up and 5 hours later it was 69 degrees. By 2pm it was already 79 degrees and turned out to be a fabulous day! Consider this the end of my blog... |
