She called it Gali...

That's right... but in English it's called curry.
We were grocery shopping and passed through the aisle with spices.
Getting low on ginger and basil we were also looking for other things of interest.
My wife struck on something she recognized calling it gali. I opened my translator app, said "curry" and the translation came back with the spoken sound of gali.

咖喱

That night, she made a stew with roasted (organic) chicken, potatoes and carrots. It reminded me of a traditional Trinidad dish they call Roti. Actually, Roti is wrapped in a soft tortilla, but it has the same flavor.

The flavor from India... Chinese style!

25 years ago, I worked with a woman from Trinidad and she invited me to have Roti at a local restaurant. There are several in South Florida.

My only complaint is they randomly chop the chicken so you are guaranteed to have bone fragments in the food. I have found that Jamaican style cooking is similar. Tasty, but watch for bones.
