The passing of George Martin... The one man responsible for cultivating the sound of The Beatles was George Martin. He was their producer and arranger... the creative magic behind the studio console shaping the musical flavor we heard on recordings. The news this morning was George has passed away at the age of 90. I've seen videos from George as he explained the production of The Beatles music, some dating back to original recording tapes from the 1960's. He would play a piece in it's original format and then explain how he added instruments, sounds, contoured vocals and speed of the recording to get the final mix that was used to cut a master record that vinyl records were pressed from. George had an amazing talent for bringing out the best in music and his works will live on forever... |
