Critiquing boots that cost $24...

In a previous blog, I mentioned I lost my solemate.

Walmart sold a wide work boot for under $30 that fit great and was affordable.
I would buy a few pairs a year and rotate the older ones for dirty jobs like yard work or contracting work and the clean pair was for my routine field and office work. Again... they were very comfortable.

It's a few months now since they stopped selling that style shoe/boot and a similar steel toe work boot replaced it. Unfortunately, the steel toe boot is not available in a wide width. I tried a larger size to compensate, but the edges of the steel insert didn't flare out and it rubbed my toes causing blisters. Aside from the width issue, the boots were fine.

This morning I'm again checking to see if my favorite boots came back into stock or if something new was available. I was reading some of the reviews for the other styles (same brand) and it's amazing how they complained about boots that cost $24.

Thin padding, didn't last, sizing not consistent, man made leather...

YEAH... go buy the $130 boots and see if all those complaints are gone!

John, for years it's been a great source for me. I tried more expensive boots and shopped several other places and the one style I hit on at Walmart had me going back year-after-year. Too bad it's gone now.

Foots... I don't want a boot to last for years.

More than 10 years now I've been buying the same model $30 boot from Walmart and it was perfect for me.

What I found odd is the number of complaints from a different style boot that sells for $24. Agreed, you get what you pay for but that's like buying a Toyota Yaris and complaining it doesn't ride like a BMW.
