Skype... No, I don't want to be social.

Skype likes to do updates. About once a month it nags me until I allow an update to enhance my Skype experience. Last year they were doing updates without asking. Currently, I only have a few people on my list and my wife and I used it a few times a week when she was in China this summer.

I prefer the desktop version of Skype, but I'm mobile a lot so for convenience I have it on my cellphone. It's perfect to use with my Bluetooth earpiece.

Several months ago, I switched phones under warrantee and had to reactivate all the apps on the new phone including updates. The good part about Samsung is their SmartSwitch app can backup and restore to a computer or copy the entire contents from one phone to another. Only the data gets copied and you have to do all your personalized settings again, including resetting many defaults and privacy settings.

I noticed on my work computer Skype was reading all my business contacts from Microsoft Outlook... Microsoft bought Skype a while back... That's when they turned your computer into an advertising system. Anyway, they are nice enough to allow you to turn off the advertisements. But I was pissed off to see it automatically added 50+ people to my Skype contact list.

The same thing happened to my updated phone and though I turned the auto-add feature off, the contacts were there. So I had to go through each one and delete them manually. Most were people I didn't know and some were old customers who's numbers were in my cellphone.

I see this 'linking of personal information' perverted throughout the internet. For some reason everyone finds it okay to share cellphone numbers and email addresses.

I don't...

I remember installing Viber when my daughter vacationed in Italy. Not long after I started receiving invitation from people I didn't know and from coworkers. I asked one coworker why they were sending invitations. They were totally surprised as they hadn't used Viber in weeks.

I uninstalled it right after that.
