Twits on Twitter. I don't do...

A few times a day I see in the news that someone blasted out a tweet (in anger) only to 'back stroke' do the the repercussions it caused. What a waste...

I cannot remember exactly when I started with the internet, but it was a long, long time ago.
My first computer (a Commodore PET) was purchased in 1975 and shortly after, I joined a group of electronic enthusiasts that shared some common interests. One interest was to use a 300 baud acoustic modem and 'dial up' to a bulletin board system. We had access to post messages, upload/download computer programs and photos. There were only a few computer programs available at the time. We usually hand typed a few hundred lines of code from a booklet, saved it and uploaded it for the club members to share.

I was a geek way before the term geek was coined. As long as you had a telephone, you would place the handset in the modem, dial the service and have the computer connect. It was nearly the same a using a fax machine... facsimile sending/receiving data at 300 baud rate is readable as fast as it comes through the modem.

This was the beginning of dial up services like Compuserve and AOL. If I have to guess a date when I started with internet it must have been around 1992-93. I remember being in a chat room and some new people had started with Earthlink for their internet provider. Earthlink reportedly started in 1994.

I did have an early messenger type account with ICQ and later switched to Yahoo! There was another for a short time but the name escapes me right now. MSN?

Officially speaking...

I never had a MySpace account.
I don't do Facebook.
Never had any desire to tweet on Twitter
No Pinterest account either
No Linkedin
Google only because it drives my cellphone and apps but I don't do Google +
No Tumblr
No VK
No Reddit
I dropped Classmates more than 15 years ago.

I'm sure I'm leaving someone out...
Oh, yeah... HOUZZ

I absolutely hate it when a sends me a link to some kitchen they saw on Houzz and want me to copy it.
You have to be logged in to see what is in the link.
The problem I see with viewing Houzz is they want that $60,000 kitchen that's 25' x 15' with 2 islands but the customer has only a 10' x 10' and a $12,000 budget.

Everything is online, but every month Yahoo! mail wants me to change my password. They got hit this week and I'm sure I'll have to change my password again... not for my security, but for their lack of security.

You name it and they want your personal data online... Doctors, Insurance companies, car dealer service appointments. the grocery store wants you online so you can pre-order and pick it up later.

Many of the news stories I read are linked to other sites. I'll scan and move on especially if they want me to create an account or unlock my ad-block. It wasn't that important.
