Hamburgers and Donuts...

My wife is amazed to see so many labels marked 'Made in China' on the products sold here.

When I needed toothpicks, the local grocer had at least four different styles and brands. All of them were made in China. I bought the flat ones and ended up using them for crafts as they splintered and I had to floss just to get the splinters out.
I tried the round ones... Diamond brand and they were just as bad.

It's on my list to buy another box the next time we go shopping and I'll probably get the expensive ones with the little tassels as they are longer and (hopefully) stronger.

We got into a discussion about why America buys toothpicks from China. "How could it be cheaper?" she asked and my reply was "I have no idea"
"By boat... they come here on a boat?" Yeah... I said, they have to put a million boxes of toothpicks on a boat and ship them to America... doing it cheaper than a company based in America.

Amazing... she said. What does America make?

My response was "We're pretty good at hamburgers and donuts..."
