Uranus will be visible to the naked eye... No joke... I was reading some science news. As of last week it was reported clearly visible. "Uranus should be visible to the naked eye this month." I'm disputing one thing... the reports say you need binoculars. At a risk of sounding like a rocket scientist... if you need binoculars, then it's really not visible to the naked eye. Anyway, I bookmarked the event and realized it's nearly a week from the date when Uranus had it's closest approach to Earth. Although I missed it, I read the last time this happened was 50 years ago. So look toward the southeast sky towards Pisces and scan the constellation for a tiny blueish-green disc that should pop out among the dimmer stars and maybe... just maybe you can see Uranus. . |

The more that I think about it, I'm really not interested in looking at Uranus...
