Wuhan: building a 1000 bed hospital in 10 days...

Earlier in the week, China announced they would build a 1,000 bed hospital in Wuhan city within 10 days as necessary for the corona virus.

The media in the first few days showed lots of photos and videos of earth moving equipment clearing land at the site. the for that is "A and pony show"

How did it happen so quickly?
Design and prepare engineered drawings.
Find suitable land for construction.
Clear the land.
Dig trenches for sewer drains.
Pour a cement slab and wait for it cure.
Erect buildings with plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning.

I'm skeptical about the whole thing, but I've read it's been done before.

After several days of the media playing the videos over and over, it became annoying see no progress.

Checking the news on Friday the 31st repeated the completion date is February 3rd.

By now they had slabs, steel support columns, stacks of prefabricated rooms, sewer trenches.

It's early morning in city and I found a live video link the construction and it shows rows of rooms, open corridors. While unconventional, the areas in the video have a good amount of work done on the outside.
.

I added a 3rd photo Sunday 2-2-2020 that shows some steel beams in the lower left of the image. They need more than 10 days to complete this project.

With so much to be done, there are many of the workers standing around not getting anything accomplished.

A lot of what is in China is a facade...Ever see the doc on Ghost city's or the one where they cleared out an entire city (forget the name) and they went in and razed it only to build a new more modern city. The government there do not care who they hurt or push out of the way as long s they do what they want in the name of progress....keep this in mind if the Corona virus was contained and just in china they would lie through their teeth...so what if 500, 1000 or 2000 chinese died...they have a country of billions...gov't doesn't care to lose so few people they do not have to feed or clothe...They would have locked Wuhan down and let everyone starve to death if they could. The fact that this virus has spread to outside world they have to put on the face that they are doing everything to stop it...Lets hope they can educate a good part of their population to stop eating wild animals and maybe this crap will not flare up every decade...remember SARS, swine flu, now this..all China based...but I love chinese women...go figure.

At Chinese for me...maybe I am harsh with my comment, true our hospitals need more attention...I spent many a day in the hallway with my sick dad and was stunned to see all the beds up and down the hallway full of of sick people and no rooms to put them in. But remember the Chinese government sent in the military with tanks to crush the students in Tianeman square and the number of people killed ranges from a few hundred to 1000 depending on who you believe. As long as the square was cleared the Communists did not care who got crushed. In fairness they did warn the students for a few days that this was coming...I just think they would have covered this up if allowed just like the Russians tried covering up the accident at Chernobyl...

well, it's not the first time they built hospital in days. The first one was back in 2003 in Beijing to help tackle the SARS virus. They are using the same building team from 2003 so it's even better organised with their past experience. It will be temporary accommodation not aim for long term purpose.

Hundreds and possibly thousands of volunteer medical staff are being shipping in from all over the country beginning 3 or 4 days ago.
