Venezuelan Chicha...

I did a blog on another site about rice pudding. It's something my mother was good at making. The recipe involved rice, whole milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract and (if I remember correctly) an egg or two.
She would cook the rice first, then add it to a large 'oven safe' bowl and bake it until the top started to brown.

One of the comments to my blog was from an English speaking woman from Venezuela who linked a YouTube video of a cold recipe for rice pudding called Chicha.

In the recipe they took cooked rice, sugar, water, milk, condensed milk, cinnamon and ice cubes. Most of it was done in a blender and the ice cubes added after.

I cut lots of corners, leaving out the sugar and ice cubes. It was in the blender for a few rounds as I needed to add more milk so it would pour.

I was good... the flavor was different than the cooked version of rice pudding, but it was quick and easy!

I'm going to pour the mix into cups and put them in the freezer to see if I can make a frozen desert out of it.

American style Chicha!
