New photos from the Down Under

pharmacist2

I ordered "Seafood platter" that included shrimp, prawn, calamari, raw oyster, mussel, and (Barramundi) fish fillet... Delicious, yummy!
The desert was Vanilla Ice Cream, with a small cup of Kahlua wine and a cup of Espresso coffee separately. I have been told to pour the wine into the ice cream first, then the coffee.
My first formal dinner in Auckland, New Zealand on Feb 01, 2015.

I warned you about the NZ Westcoast sandfly! Insect repellant is essential

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
laogui:

I think I didn't have insect bites in NZ because I wore thicker clothes and pants especially in Queenstown where is cold. We had cable way to the top of mountain. It was cold and clean.

We fly from Queenstown to Sydney, overnight in Sydney (from very cold to very hot, from quiet place to a noise city), then next morning took another plane to Cairns, in Queensland in Australia where is rainforest. It was raining most of the time, showers comes and goes. There are many animals (koala, kangaroo, wallabies, crocodile,....), rainforest, jungle, ... That was the place I got lots of insect bites. Cairns is in Australia (hot and humid). So, I didn't know and didn't put my insect repellent in my carry bag (in the luggage at hotel). I wore shorts and T-shirts in Cairns.

You got me about the typo of "snake". Thanks, beyond fantasy. I uploaded many photos in my profile, but still don't know how to upload photos to blog. I am NOT a subscriber.

laogui: I was surprised that two countries next to each other but so dramatically different. NZ is quiet, peaceful, tranquility, and beauty. We visited Auckland, Rotorua in North island and Queenstown in South island of New Zealand. We saw "Waitomo Caves" limestone caverns and glow-worm grotto. "Sheep show" is funny and "Maori dance" in a volcanic resort. The lunch was cooked by the geyser steam that is so special cooking method. The Pohutu Geyser is similar to Yellowstone national park in USA, but smaller. We took airplane to Queenstown where is cooler. Our hotel in Queenstown and went to "Milford Sound" by bus. We were on a boat (lunch) to see the beautiful breathtaking scenery. There are hundred water falls. The biggest water fall is 50 story high. I used video to capture some scenery. They have English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean languages to explain the scenery on boat. The lunch is large prawn.

We have had a wonderful trip.

On the other hand, Australia is exciting, adventurous, full of energy. I bought an "Indiana Jones hat" in Australia. The sign says "G' Day" at Australia airport. Cairns has tropical weather, full of fruits, rainforest and jungle. We all bought "Koala photo" (only have a minute to hold that koala), T-shirts of koala and cassowary. I bought lots of "Tim Tam" cookies in Sydney. We have a tour inside of the iconic "Opera House". We visited 3 rooms, the smallest room that has 350 seats, the largest room called "Concert Hall" has 2,679 seats and an opera room that 40 people were preparing the background for "Madam Butterfly". My roommate for 13 nights who spent extra $278 to climb the bridge located next to the Opera House.

It is very safe to camp in NZ because there are no sneak, no lion, no tiger, no kangaroo, no koala, no fox, no hyena, no crocodile.... no crime, no police, no lawsuit, ... a wonderful country.

I like the fact of no "snakes".... !!!

The bus drivers told us that the most famous cookies in Australia is Tim Tam which I bought at least 10 different favors in Sydney. The most famous ice cream in New Zealand is Tip Top but I only can eat there NOT bring home.

Women like to shop till drop, so we spent lots of money on shopping. I bought jacket. ca[. groves. socks (mixed with possum and wool) for my daughter who lives in Detroit to study at school of medicine. I bought Tim Tam cookies, Indiana Jones hat, Koala and cassowary T-shirts,..... in Cairns and Sydney Australia.

We had great time shopping together in small group. Some need to buy extra luggage in order to carry home.

No, not all seafood cold. Only raw oyster were cold. Shrimps are steam cooked, prawns are large size and calamari mixed with flour and deep fried. Mussels are steam cooked and Barramundi fish fillet is cooked. No lobster.

I ordered "lamb chop" in New Zealand with cocktail and creme brulee desert.

I ate Kangaroo fillet twice in Sydney (one order with crocodile). I ordered Barramundi fish with buns at Outback Jack's with my roommate. I like to eat "exotic food" when I travel to different countries. I am the only one who dare to try exotic food. We ate dinner at "the rocks" in Sydney where has 18 restaurant all at same place. You probably know where it located. The view of "Opera House" at night and eating dinner are very good combinations.

We paid $10,000 (13 nights hotel) or the trip plus airfare. We got breakfast included every morning at hotels and 7 lunches and 5 dinners for the prices. The rest of lunch and dinner, we need to pay ourselves. I enjoyed the foold and beautiful scenery. I prefer NZ than Australia. Sorry, laogui. The scenery at Milford Sound in Queenstown in NZ is breath-taking beauty. (mountain high, lake deep and no harmful mammals other than sheep, cow and deer). It is very safe to camp in NZ because there are no sneak, no lion, no tiger, no kangaroo, no koala, no fox, no hyena, no crocodile.... no crime, no police, no lawsuit, ... a wonderful country. Australia has lots of animals, noise, rainforest, traffic, police, hot and humid. i got lots of insect bites. I brought "insect repellent" but too late to put on. However, Sydney is exciting and adventurous, full of energy, just too crowded. We went to Cairns in Queensland state of Australia for rainforest and all marsupia (kangaroo, koala, wallabies and crocodile,....). NZ people hate (regret) to import "possum" from Australia because possum destroyed their forest. The bus drivers said "if you see possum, kill them". NZ is preserving their Kiwi bird (same spell with Kiwi fruit). I asked driver about the immigration in NZ and been told need to be under age 35, Australia requires under age 40.

I took most of my photos from Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone (Android). Everybody use smartphone to take photos. I sent them to my emailing friends, some needed to rotate upright. I have uploaded 10 pictures in my profile but don't know how to load in this blog. Teach me, please.

I used the icon "member photo" at blog bottom to upload my primary photo.

I will post another blog about this trip, but I am exhausted for now.
