The hotel WiFi limitation actually saved my stock accounts

I have mentioned in my previous blogs, that some hotels have WiFi limitations. You can only use free WiFi in the lobby, only can use 30 minutes in every 24 hours. The signals were so weak and couldn't open email messages. I was upset and frustrated those restrictions because I have stock accounts that I have many different holdings. As you may know, stock market is very volatile and unpredictable. I have been blindfolded for so many days, I was worried, particularly the "margin" account.

I couldn't open my email messages or read stock charts. As the trip came almost the end in Sydney, Australia, we stayed at a hotel called "Park Royal" which has strong WiFi signals, if we sign-up free "loyalty membership". Yes, I joined that membership. I can read email messages, go on my stock account to order trades. I was happy. I put a trade order to sell Twitter at $48.48 from my smartphone which I bought at low $37 - $38 before departure. When I arrived home in Los Angeles, I saw that stock has been sold for the price I ordered, $48.48. Even that stock up to $49 later, but I am satisfied with a profits of $10,000+ that covers all my travel expenses.

I am glad I got a free travel.

In New Zealand, there are "option A" - free WiFi with limitations, and "option B" - you pay $$ for every 24 hrs. You need to read the instruction and select option A or B.

Because our schedule was tight and WiFi signal was weak and limited use, we had no connection with the world for 5 days (Novotel) and 2 days in Cairns (Mercure) in Australia. Until we arrived Sydney and signed up for membership, when the trip was about to be ended. I checked my positions and found out I have good profits with Twitter, so I decided to sell it and put a limit price.

Smartphone is such a smart device. I can take photos, video, listen to my 3,000+ downloaded music, tell me the time with 2 locations (1 Los Angeles, 1 the place I local place traveled), write down the note, .... without WiFi, and browsing Apps, check emails, .... with WiFi and use as a cellphone when in USA.

Isn't that wonderful device?? Everything in one small gadget. I love it. I don't need to bring a laptop as I traveled to China in 2008 and Taiwan in 2011

I sold Priceline twice, so the profits is $14,500+. The RSI is over 70, I sell that stock, I have to follow my rule - discipline. (Don't be greedy)

Yes, I need to pay "interest". That's why I sell stocks. Anyway, I did well on Twitter last year and this year. I did well last year. I made profits on Priceline on the past two days. I sold them all and made about $7,000+. However, my OIL is doing poorly. OIL is still weak.

My banker friend is a typical "buy and holder". He is winner stocks are Apple, Las Vegas Sands, Starbucks, .... He has "deep pocket", I don't. When I returned from Sydney, I called him. He said while you were away, the stock market go up. I said I sold Twitter and made profits. He told me he is going to Las Vegas for this weekend, but will meet for "Dim Sum" lunch around early of March.

He is the only person willing to talk to me about stocks, real estate, interest rate, politics, election, religion, current events, ..... except romance. Ha, ha, ha,... His advices have been benefits me. It has been almost 9 years since I met him in June 2006.
