My true story joke - 4

When I was 20 something in a pharmacy school in Taiwan that only "freshman" can stay in dormitory. From sophomore on, we have to find a rental place. I was a Catholic, so I chose a convent for clean environment.

In that church convent, most of the nuns are Spanish but there was only one Chinese nun (about 40+ y/o) who watch out for 12 student girls on 3rd floor. One day, that Chinese nun told me she had insomnia the night before. I told her I don't have sleep problem. That nun said she didn't have sleep problem when she was .

She said when she was 16, her family was poor, so she went to a church and asked to be a nun. The "mother superior" gave her an assignment for the next morning to ring the church bells at 6 a.m. to wake all the nuns to pray. She overslept the next morning till 8 a.m. and didn't ring the church bell. She said she only had a wrist watch but not a alarm clock. The "mother superior" scolded her but gave her another chance for next morning. She really wanted to be a nun, so she slept very early in the evening so that she could wake up before 6 a.m. She woke up and saw her watch was 6 o'clock. She ran to ring the church bells as hard as she could. Ooh, she was wrong again because it was 12:30 a.m. (looked like 6 a.m.). She got scolded by "mother superior" again, of course.

    Quoting  :

When she was 16, the digital clock has NOT been invented yet.

I was graduated from pharmacy school in Taiwan in June 1975. So, I was at convent about 1972 - 74, when she was 40+. So, when she was 16 and poor (approx. 1940), the world has not had digital clock yet.
