I saw SpaceX Falcon 9

I saw it on Friday around 5:34 pm when I've done my shopping at Walmart Store parking lot in City of Industry, CA. Many people were yelling and taking pictures from the sky and said it was UFO (Unknown Flying Object). I was thinking to take pictures but I had shopping bags on hands so I didn't. This morning I received my PhD Physicist email with a YouTube link about SpaceX Falcon 9, I realized that was the same image I saw on Friday, Dec 22, 2017 at 5:34 pm (time on Walmart receipt).

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 was successfully launched into orbit from the Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on Friday, 22nd December at 5:27 pm. This was the last SpaceX launch of the year and it caused a bit of a stir in the social media world. The hashtag #aliens began to trend and people were reporting UFO sightings. Many cars stopped along freeways and numerous calls to TV stations were made as what appeared to be a huge whale in the sky was seen.

The rocket left behind an incredible trail in the setting Californian Sun and many witnesses shared their videos online.

The Los Angeles Fire Department had to resort to releasing a statement to reassure witnesses. The statement mentioned that the ‘mysterious light in the sky is reported to be the result of Air Force Base launching rocket to put satellite into space’. Elon Musk took a more light-hearted approach and tweeted, ‘Nuclear alien UFO from North Korea’, followed by a video of the impressive trail left in the sky because of Falcon 9. It is thought that the trail seen was due to the fact that the sun had barely set and was illuminating the exhaust gases that were being ejected out of the rocket as it soared through the sky.

In reality, the SpaceX rocket was obviously not a UFO but was carrying 10 satellites which were sent into low-Earth orbit for Iridium, a global leader in mobile voice and data satellite communications. The 10 satellites are part of the fourth set of satellites that make up a series of 75 total satellites which will be launched for the next generation global satellite constellation, Iridium® NEXT. You can watch the whole launch in the SpaceX webcast.

Space rockets like the Falcon 9 work by using Newton’s Laws of Motion. Put simply, rockets are chambers with gas that is under high pressure. When this gas is allowed to come out, it provides a thrust and allows the rocket to move in a direction opposite to the direction of the escaping gas. In order for the rocket to be launched into space, this thrust must be greater than the weight of the rocket. When this happens, there is a net force upwards on the rocket which causes the rocket to move upwards away from the ground. Unlike airplanes, the thrust of a water actually increases the higher it goes, this is because there is less air to slow down the rocket. Once the rocket is in the vacuum of space there is negligible resistance and there isn’t much need for a large thrust.

    Quoting  :

I think Elon Musk SpaceX company is a private owned company. It is NOT NASA, so he didn't use our taxpayers' money. Elon Musk is a billionaire who owns three companies: SpaceX, Tesla Motor, and Solar City. He is an Entrepreneur, and an Environmentalist.

That evening I just walked out of Walmart store and lots of people pointed to sky and some women shouted "OMG, what is that?" some yelled "hope that is not North Korea rocket", so I looked up the sky at parking lot. Most of men there said "it is an UFO". That giant fish shape cloud (smoke) was beautiful but I had no idea what was that. The sky was dark, so the rocket's white smoke appeared more obviously against the dark background. I didn't take picture from my smartphone because I had my hands full from shopping. I felt the white smoke was a little weird but I was NOT frightened.

Until the Sunday I received an email with a link from my physicist friend (who lives on Maui, Hawaii), while I read the link I realized it was Elon Musk Space X Falcon 9 rocket. It had no explosion sound, it was just the white smoke on the sky. It looked like an artist painted a giant fish picture on the sky. Nobody knew what was that but they guessed it was UFO.

Did you Google that U-Tube video?

It is NOT an UFO, it is real Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. I saw it with my own eyes at Walmart parking lot in City of Industry on Friday, Dec 22, 2017 at 5:34 p.m. It was a fantastic experience. I am glad I saw it.

Anyone else saw it??? Please Google YouTube video for that video. It looks like a giant fish on the sky. Beautiful image. I didn't know then what I know now. It is Elon Musk SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket on the Southern California sky.

I believe in science.
