Ice Dancing: Canada team won Gold, Franch got Silver, and USA got Bronze medal

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir Win Ice Dancing Gold for Canada.
In a performance by turns, athletic, sensual and expressive, the nonpareil Canadian ice dancing team of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir reclaimed the Olympic gold medal.

Virtue and Moir, who have been at the top of the sport for a decade, were the 2010 champions, but lost their crown in 2014 to the now-retired American team of Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

Their music was from the modern skating classic “Moulin Rouge,” including “Roxanne” and “Come What May,” and it received a rapturous reception from the crowd.

Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France placed second.
The opening of the Olympic ice dancing competition was affected Monday (Feb 19, 2018 ) by a wardrobe malfunction that left the costume of a French gold medal contender revealingly open, causing her to become distracted and cautious.

French ice dancer Gabriella Papadakis suffered a “nightmare” wardrobe issue Monday during her short dance figure skating routine with partner Guillaume Cizeron when a clasp on her costume became unhooked. (Please refer to the picture 2 )

Despite that momentary embarrassment, the results set up a showdown in Tuesday’s scheduled final between the Canadian and French couples, who present a stark philosophical contrast in style at a potentially transformational moment for the sport. Ice dancing is being energized by an inventive sense of flow and is trying to gain new respect where it was once mocked for a seeming lack of sporting legitimacy.

Shib Sibs win ice dancing bronze medal for U.S.
The American brother-sister combination of Maia and Alex Shibutani won bronze in ice dance here Tuesday after delivering a clean and thrilling performance.

The Shib Sibs, as they are known on social media, were thrilled with their performance, beaming as they finished. The judges saw the same thing, pushing them into a long-awaited podium spot.

In the past, Alex, 26, and Maia, 23, have felt they were scored too low by international judging. That included Monday’s crisp short program.

They didn’t have enough for gold or silver but bronze will be cherished. The two also won bronze last week as part of America’s team skate team.

The Canadian won Gold the overall with a 206.7. The French finished with 205.28. The Shibutanis had a 192.59.

French ice dancer Gabriella Papadakis said her “worst nightmare” came true Monday, February 19, after suffering a wardrobe malfunction that left her breast exposed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Despite the mishap, Papadakis knew she had to keep going. “It was pretty distracting, kind of my worst nightmare happening at the Olympics,” she revealed. “I told myself, ‘I don’t have a choice. I have to keep going,’ and that’s what we did. I think we can be proud of ourselves being able to deliver a great performance with that happening.”

Of course, she changed her dress in "Free program" and with their combine scores, they won Silver medal for France. Whew!!!
