Italy trip - Chianti region- sword in the stone, Abbey of San galgano

Do you know King Arthur's "Sword in the Stone" story? Guest what? I saw in my own eyes and took pictures to show you that famous Sword in the Stone. A story about 3 young men tried to withdraw the sword from the stone. After they messed up, they left that "Chapel of Montesiepi" The first guy fell into a cliff and died, the 2nd guy hit by a thunder lighting and died, the 3rd guy ate by a wild animal and his remaining is his hands bone. Ever since that, the local church people covered the sword in the stone with a thick plastic cover to prevent people trying to take the sword out of the stone. Believe it, or not?? This is what I have been told by the local tour guide. See the photos.

Photo 1: The ceiling of Chapel of Montesiepi where the "Sword of the Stone" located.

Photo 2: The famous "Sword of the Stone" with a plastic cover to protect it.

Photo 3 I saw the real "Sword of the Stone" and took a picture to prove you I was there.

Photo 4: The 3rd guy's remaining hands skeletons. Do NOT try to take out the Sword from the Stone.

Photo 5: The famous "Abbey of San Galgano". The ceiling had been destroyed by bomb during WWII, so only the wall remain standing, no roof. The 13th-century Cistercian monastery lost its roof over the years, but the "ceiling" of sky arguably makes the structure more striking. Sunlight streams through arched windows, and many of architectural elements remain intact; we marvel at beautiful columns and carved decorations as we wander.

Hope you will enjoy my travel on Oct. 20, 2018 (Saturday).

I will strong recommend to all travelers to have "windbreaker with hood" jacket that is so useful for windy and raining days. I noticed many travelers know and wear it.

The weather might change, so prepare a windbreaker with hood jacket is very important. The jacket has pockets for shopping small items.

On the typical travel days in Italy, I have so many things hanging on my neck as you might see from my photos.

1. RFID waist stash bag (for EURO cash, credit card and debit card, a pen and note), RFID neck stash bag (for smartphone and dental floss).

2. My eyeglasses with string attached.

3. Sometimes I wear necklace.

4. A radio frequency microphone to hear the local tour guide explanation of the scenery or cathedrals story.

5. My hat that I bought in Sydney, Australia. That hat is "Indiana John hat" very useful to adjusted the length of hat string. It can hang behind my back when I enter to a restaurant or shopping store or churches without carry that hat on hand.

So that I can have my hands free (available) to take picture, eat, shopping, .... without losing a thing when rush to catch-up with group for next scenery. They are on my neck. I don't carry my passport with me but a photo copy of passport with me only (recommended by O.A.T.) My passport is in my locked luggage at hotel room.

Those tips might help you in your future traveling.

The Sword in the Stone is inside of Chapel of Montesiepi and I took a picture of the ceiling with round circles is right on the top of the Sword in the Stone. If you need more information, please Google the words "Chapel of Montesiepi" or "Abbey of San Galgano".
