Visit local Italians for their skills The next day after we visited Piazza del Campo, we met a 80+ old blacksmith who had made a golden cross that on the top of Piazza del Campo. He showed us his skills, his tools from his grandpa, his father to him. He also showed us the city rewarded him for the golden cross and he was on local newspaper. He is a happy old blacksmith. His studio is old. He spent all his life doing his job at same place. We also went to a winery. We met the young lady first who is the 4th generation of winery. She gave us a tour to see their wine cellar. Then we entered to a room that they prepared some bread and cheese for wine tasting event hosted by the current CEO. The CEO is very elegant woman. She said her company started from her grandpa and then her father. She is the 3rd generation CEO. Her wine to many countries. She taught us how to hold the crystal wine cup at bottom, how to taste the wine. She presented 5 different red wines. Most of our purchased her wine bottles, but some extra for shipment to their homes in USA.     Honesty is the best policy. |

Although I didn't purchase any wine, but I like her European fashion style of dressing and gestures. In California, you rarely to see people dress like her. She has traveled all around of Europe to promote her wine, so she needs to present herself in an elegant European style. I like her. The wine glass bottles are too heavy and easy to break and I still have long way of my Italy journey, so I didn't buy her wine. Honesty is the best policy.

If you travel individually, you wouldn't know those local Italians and contacted them for their lifetime skill and career. That 80+ old blacksmith can speak a little English and our trip leader helped to translate what he said. That blacksmith is a happy and funny guy. He likes his job and enjoyed our group to company him for an hour. The winery CEO can speak English well. She traveled Europe often for her winery business. She is a smart businesswoman. Honesty is the best policy.
