The most famous landmark in Italy - Colosseum The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of travertine, tuff, and brick-faced concrete, it is the largest amphitheatre ever built. The Colosseum is situated just east of the Roman Forum. Colosseum is an iconic landmark, the most popular location that tourists wouldn't want to miss it. Of course, I was there. Even Oct - Nov are slow season, but the waiting lines to enter Colosseum are very long. There are "security check" at entrance that slow down the crowd to get in. (The local tour guide said the crowd was even worse in Summer time) Located just east of the Roman Forum, the massive stone amphitheater known as the Colosseum was commissioned around A.D. 70-72 by Emperor Vespasian of the Flavian dynasty as a gift to the Roman people. In A.D. 80, Vespasian’s Titus opened the Colosseum–officially known as the Flavian Amphitheater–with 100 days of games, including gladiatorial combats and wild animal fights. After four centuries of active use, the magnificent arena fell into neglect, and up until the 18th century it was used as a source of building materials. Though 2/3 of the original Colosseum has been destroyed over time, the amphitheater remains a popular tourist destination, as well as an iconic symbol of Rome and its long, tumultuous history. Photo 10: Once a magnificent Roman Forum, but now rubble. So sad. Roman Empire used to have strong military force, but the barbarians people destoryed Roman Forum and Colosseum during 2nd and 3rd centuries after Christ birth. Roman Forum is next to the Colosseum. Honesty is the best policy.

In spite of raining and cold, people still love to eat gelato 義式冰淇淋. The famous deserts in Italy are Tiramisu（一種義大利的著名甜點，用咖啡及甜酒泡過的分層海綿蛋糕或類似品製成，在各層之間塗有巧克力及義大利特產的mascarpone乳酪）, Cannoli, Soufflé蛋白牛奶酥（以起泡蛋白為主烤成的酥鬆食品）, .... very delicious. We have been told Italians waiters and waitress or hotel maid don't expect you to pay them tip, but if you left tip, they will take. No sales tax either. Italians have habits to sleep in the afternoon "siesta" and many stores and restaurants close from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. They eat dinner very late around 7:30 pm or 8 pm that's why restaurant re-open at 7:30 pm or 8 pm for dinner customers. However, due to American tourists in summer, Italian stores and restaurant will compromise to open at 7 pm for dinner. Don't be surprise, you can't eat dinner at 6 pm. Honesty is the best policy.
