A hysterical Chinese woman confronted with me at a gym I have joined 24 hour Fitness after my mom died in Sept 20 . I have Aqua Aerobics classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It is international mixed in women locker room that we can take shower, toilet, lockers, mirrors, ..... A Chinese woman (age 60+) talked with me in Mandarin Chinese. Her voice was loud that caused other ethnicity women turned their heads. I felt that was not a polite gesture to speak Mandarin Chinese in the public. So I said "we'd better speak English to prevent misunderstanding". All the sudden, that Chinese woman started to yell at me loudly "I don't know a word of English, I can't speak English or understand a word of English. You (that is me) speak Chinese, why can't you speak to me in Chinese? Mexican women spoke Spanish, why can't I speak Chinese? What can you do to me? You want to send me back to China?? She started be hysterical and frustrating. She asked another Chinese woman "can you speak English?" That woman said "I don't know a word of English either". Now both of them jumped on me that I wanted them to speak English in public. I walked away and talked to a Vietnamese woman in English, I told that Vietnamese woman that I don't like to make scene in public. Speak Chinese might cause misunderstanding to other ethnicity. This is America, people should speak English in public." Other Americans, German women all turned their heads and they don't know what was happening but they don't like people shout the language that they don't understand. Chinese came to USA for years but not speak a word of English. They don't want be assimilated. I came to USA in 1980, worked at a bank, I forced myself to speak English although I have had an accent. I have learned English in Taiwan since 7th . In the same bank, there are many employees from Hong Kong and they speak English because Hong Kong was a colony of England for 99 years. Both my were born and raised in USA, I have NEVER forced them to speak Chinese or Taiwanese. They know both parents can speak English, so they always speak English. It is a true story. What do you think these Chinese women spoke Chinese in the public in USA?. Do you think their attitude is right? I am a peaceful person, I don't like violence or bully persons. p.s. Many Chinese walked the shower room naked. Other race women covered with towels. Why? Honesty is the best policy. |

I walked away from her when she was hysterically yelling that she didn't care about how other ethnicity thought that she use Chinese to talk to me. In USA, we are international mixed country, there are people from all over the places. Somehow, in California, Arizona, Texas, .... southern states are more tolerate with Spanish speaking in public but not with other languages. That two Chinese women yelling attracted attention especially German women because I can tell they felt confused with Chinese language. I respect English is the language that use in USA, so I told her to speak English but I didn't know why she got so mad. I heard she spoke to another non-English speaking Chinese woman that she thought why I wanted her to speak English when I understand Chinese very well. She said she has been in USA for six years and never speak a word of English but had no problem. She doesn't know I have been in USA for more than 39 years. Anyway, she was very rude to me and cause a scene in a women locker room in a gym. Honesty is the best policy.

I don't know Chinese FriendFinder automatic censor machine that deleted many words of "to", "for", and many other words from my blogs because I put my mom died in Sept 2013. Chinese FriendFinder automatic censor machine thought 4 digits of Arabic numbers together that meant I provided my phone #s. Please read "to" speak English, "for" years. All the "to" and "for" have been deleted. I have edited but they are still disappeared because that 2013, so I separated 20 13. I am frustrated by Chinese FriendFinder automatic censor machine. Honesty is the best policy.

I understand why Hong Kong protest became riots. Because Hong Kong people have been British colony for 99 years. Hong Kong people have never been in "Cultural Revolution" or communist system, or abortion for One-Baby policy, ... they know "Democracy". They want to have different political opinions than China. They don't want to be controlled by communist Chinese government. If Hong Kong people have different political voice, they will be send to China (repatriate) for trial then in jail and never can come back to Hong Kong. The transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong, commonly known as the handover of Hong Kong, occurred at midnight on July 1st, 1997, when the United Kingdom ended administration for the colony of Hong Kong and passed control of the territory to China. I have many Hong Kong friends in California, they had escaped from Hong Kong to USA before July 1997. They don't like to become Chinese citizens. Hong Kong geographically connect to the south China and they are afraid of China. They prefer the Freedom of speech, religion and press. Most Hong Kong people can speak English, if they have been educated. Taiwan has been separated from China since 1949 for 70 years. Taiwan's prosperity is known by the world. We have freedom of speech, religion and press and we learned English, watch American movies, TV, without limitation of government. All the differences for 3 different area is Democracy vs. Communism. Perhaps, you say the Cultural Revolution is 50 years ago, now China has became 2nd largest economy in the world. However, if you check the average income, you will know that China is at 46th place (USA 8th place, Hong Kong 16th place, Australia 17th place). During Cultural Revolution for 10 years, China was in recession that 30 years back. The massacre was in top #1 in China, people had to recite Mao's red book, the poor people k*lled rich and intelligent people, teachers, principals, professors, land owners, ... for a decade. I don't like violence, k*lling, massacre, ... Chinese people were silent lambs, nobody dare to protest government. Don't they know massacre is wrong?? How can Chinese government k*ll their own people for 10 years, millions of people??? Because they don't have bipartisan system to "checks and balance" their government. Chinese government don't want intelligent people because st*pid people are easy to control. Chinese government only exist 70 years in history (Oct 1st), but they educated its people that Hong Kong and Taiwan belong to China in their textbooks, TV, .... The Chinese government brainwashed its own people. They don't know how lucky of Hong Kong and Taiwan people escaped from the massacre and one-party policy. They weren't allowed to learn English during Cultural Revolution or research for the truth or speak out or protest their government. They think their government is always right and they love their country is patriotism. They have been brainwashed for too long. They don't know Democracy. North Korea, North Vietnam, East Germany, Russia, China are communist countries, but none of North Korea , North Vietnam, East Germany, Russia said they want to unify South Korea, South Vietnam, West Germany, Russia let many countries became "independent countries". Why only China wants to unify Hong Kong and Taiwan and NOT vice versa??? If China were a Democracy country, freedom of speech, religion, and press, has presidential election, no massacre, ... I think Hong Kong and Taiwan will more accept the unify as a country. The trust is not there, so Hong Kong and Taiwan are not willing to unify with China. Nobody wants to be communist. China can't represent for 5,000 years history, but they are only 70 years long. Chiang Kai-Shek shouldn't lose that battle after WWII with Japan and retreated to Taiwan in 1949. After WWII, Chiang Kai-Shek was represented for China in UN as four leading countries that had veto right. Until US president Jimmy Carter who abandoned Taiwan in Nov 1979, the situation suddenly changed. I can't deny that China's GDP growth rate was dramatically strong to 7 - 8 % for recent years after the recession of Cultural Revolution ended. Because Mao died and because they need to grow fast to catch-up the rest of world. The US GDP growth rate is only 2 - 3 % because it is on a steady growth rate, although US had a recession in 1930's. C'est la vie!!! Honesty is the best policy.
