My was high school graduated in June 2005 got perfect scores of 1,600 on both SAT I and II. Her picture was on a local Chinese newspaper. She skipped a grade during the elementary. She got 1st place every year for spelling bee and math count and represented for her school to compete with other 45 elementary schools and she got from 1st place to 4th place in her young ages. U.S. President George W. Bush was the president in 2005 sent her a gold foil envelop letter with presidential seal to congratulate my got perfect scores on both SAT I and II and gave her U.S. Presidential scholarship for 4 years and Secretary of Education also sent a formal letter to my to congratulate her and gave her U.S. Merit Scholarship for 4 years. All UC (University of California) from North to South granted her admission. UC Berkeley even called me to ensure that my to attend UC Berkeley. However, her boyfriend (now husband) only wanted to go UC Irvine, so both of them attended UC Irvine. My got 2 majors in Psychology and Neurbiology. All UC granted my tuition free for 4 years, so I didn't any tuition, but I her books and dormitory for 2 years and outside rent and living expenses for her undergraduate university. (normally dormitory only give freshman for 1 yr, but UCI gave her 2 yrs as a praise that both SAT perfect scores). Because my has skipped a grade in elementary, she decided to extend a yr for her 2nd major to get all A grades. UC gave her 5 yrs free tuition. I save a lot in tuition during her bachelor degrees.

There are many unfair things in the world. For those parents who bribed the college in order to get admission for their children are worthless because they may get in the college but how their children can graduate from all their curriculum requirements.

My son has the same personality like his father, lazy slacker. He was graduated in 20 and 07 but difficult to apply for college. My son couldn't handle rejection or frustration well. He wanted to be a pharmacist but no college accepted him. He just rested at home, no job, no school for 10 yrs. I was mad about him. I kicked him out on April 2nd, 20 and 13. That day I told him either find a college or a job. I told him to wash dishes. He said "how much you will pay me" (to wash dishes). I was mad and called police over. To my surprise, two polices came to my home. One talked to me, one talked to my son. The police woman told my son that he is over 18, he needed to move out. My son packed his two laptops and drive the car that I bought for him. The police woman asked me "who bought that car?". I said I bought the car. "Do you let him drive the car away?" police woman asked. I answered "yes, he can drive the car away". In case, my son could sleep in the car. My son drove away to live with his father. He then found a job at Target store as a cashier. My mom passed away on Sept 20, 20 and 13. I texted my son to come back for funeral. He moved back home ever since, but he is doing dishes from that on. I realized my son didn't bring his two laptops back, I think his father get the computers. His father rented a room from a lower class house and shared bathroom with their family.

Anyway, he dropped his Target job, and entered a college for two years to learn "computer science" and graduated by end of last year. He couldn't get a job and live home without rent, and lived free house, free car, free meals, ..... just like his father used to do nothing and get everything FREE.

Can anyone tell me to train a lazy person to work?

You are in mid 50's and have granddaughter in master degree of psychology. I was married late at age 31 going to 32. My daughter was born when I was 34, son was born when I was 36. You are younger than me but already a grandpa. Congratulation on your granddaughter's academic achievement.

My daughter had double majors in UCI. She didn't pay tuition for five years. She skipped a grade during elementary and she wanted to have good grades on both majors, so she extended one year for her Neurobiology. UCI gave her full scholarship for 5 years. I let her keep US Presidential scholarship plus US Merit scholarship of $12,000 for 4 years. At that time, I was busy with my divorce and two jobs. It was a very difficult time for me. I didn't open the letter from Regional Chamber of Commerce that they wanted to give my daughter a plaque. My daughter is unprecedentedly who got both SAT I and II perfect scores 1,600.

I didn't pay bribery money to any school for my both kids. I paid for her books, dormitory for 2 yrs and 3 yrs for half of her rent. I told her to ask her father for the half of rent, but I know her father didn't pay any.

When I sold my late mom's condo last year, the sold proceeds can pay off my daughter's student loan debt $350,000 in total, but I only gave her $20,000 ($5,000 for her wedding and $15,000 to pay down her student loan). I want her to learn to be independent. She is working as a resident OBGYN doctor. I don't know how much but not as real MD salary yest. Her husband found a PA (physician assistant) job making same amount as a pharmacist can make. My son-in-law also owes student loan who got Psychology BS degree and 2 more yrs for PA degree. Their jobs took them to Detroit, central California, and New York. They are busy and living together. They are married in 20 and 17. To be a MD is a long journey.

I have retired to take care of my mom for near 5 yrs and she passed away 6 yrs ago. I don't have regular income as pharmacist, so I applied SSA check and rental income.

When my daughter opened her first banking account to deposit that $500 reward check, I added my daughter name into my credit card, so that she could have her first credit card at age of 16. It was inconvenience that in the same credit card statement that she had to pay me for what she had charged on my credit card. I educated her whatever she charged my credit card to buy anything she is responsible to pay the amount before the due day. She is an honest girl and paid back to me. Anyway, she got another credit card of her own name when she was 18. She deposited U.S. Presidential scholarship and U.S. Merit scholarship to her banking account for 4 years, so her bank believed that she had regular income. Although she was a college student made no income, but bank issued a credit card under her name. I wanted her to have the responsibility to pay credit card balance before due day while enjoy shopping without paying cash. She understood the financial world at age 16, she built up her credit.

I attended my daughter high school graduation in 20 and 05. Her high school principal gave my daughter a check of $500. She is the only person receive that prize. I told her to open account in order to deposit that $500 check, that was her first time to have account at age of 16.

I filed divorce in May 20 and 04 and her father moved out on June 1st 20 and 04. I was in very upset mood and didn't open mails. I had two jobs and took care two kids on my own. I didn't open a letter from Regional Chamber of Commerce that said on a evening would have a reward ceremony to give my daughter a plaque with 3 cities. None of my family attendee that evening, the mayors and president of Chamber of Commerce were there waited for an hour and we didn't show-up. So, the Chamber of Commerce delivered that plaque to her high school and gave to my daughter. I felt so guilty that I missed to open the letter.

I let my daughter to keep US Presidential scholarship and US Merit scholarship as her allowance. She got around $12,000 each year for 4 yrs. I didn't pay any tuition because UC gave her free tuition as scholarship. Her father didn't pay anything at all. I paid her books, dormitory and rent for my daughter. I am very proud of her academic achievements.

However, those 3 scholarships ended when she graduated from UCI. There are no scholarship for post-graduate university. She went to the cold state to attend post-graduate medical school for 4 yrs. To be a MD is a long journey. She borrowed student loan from Dept of Education $100,000 per yr for 4 yrs. The loan paid to her university for tuition and university gave her some money around $10,000 for living expenses (i.e. rent, food, gasoline, ....). I transferred $1,000 each month for her. She finally graduated as MD. I asked her how much she owed for student loan, she said $350,000 in total. She married her high school sweetheart that they had 4 yrs college together. Her husband got only B.S. degree in Psychology. When my daughter attended MD post-graduate university, her husband attended a Physician Assistant school for 2 yrs in Arizona. They lived in different states for that 4 yrs.

I gave my daughter $5,000 for her wedding and $15,000 to help her for student loan pay down. My daughter decided to be an OBGYN (Obstetrician-gynecologist) doctor, in spite of I prefer her to be an Anesthesiologist. Well, I was just suggesting her. She wants to be OBGYN specialist, she needs to finish her residency for 3 yrs at least. This is her 3rd yr as resident of OBGYN. (her first year was General Surgery).

No, I didn't pay for bribery in order for my daughter to admit university. I was in very bad mood during that time when my divorce was in court for many years. My ex didn't attend any dental school, I attended USC for pharmacy school. My daughter's 3 scholarships ended by the time she graduated from her 2 bachelor degrees.

Last year I sold my mom's condo and helped my daughter to pay down her student loan. I took care of my mom when she fell down in her condo for 3 days and 3 nights. Lucky that I gave my mom's door key to a female pharmacist friend who lives at same condo complex with my mom. That pharmacist all 911 and sent my mom to ER. I went to ER and the social worker told me that I had to move my mom to live in my house. So, I quit my job and took care mom for near 5 yrs, but she passed in Sept 20 and 13. I retired for so many yrs, no pharmacy would hire me. So, I sold my mom's condo last year. That was why I went to Italy for 36 days and gave my daughter $15,000. My daughter said hospital pay intern or resident MD very little money. So, I helped her to pay student loan and rent. My $2 annual income ex didn't help daughter, didn't walk daughter down the aisle for her weeding for the reason that he doesn't have a suit. Shame on him.
