South Korea church leader apologises for virus spread

The head of the religious sect that has been at the center of the coronavirus outbreak in South Korea has apologized to the nation for the disease's spread.

Lee Man-hee, the leader of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, got on his knees and bowed at a news conference.

About 60% of the country's more than 4,000 confirmed cases are sect members. Deaths nationwide now stand at 28.

Fatalities globally have now passed the 3,000 mark, although the vast majority are in China, where the outbreak began.

Worldwide, there have been almost 90,000 confirmed cases, with the numbers outside China now growing faster than inside China.

Prosecutors in South Korea have been asked to investigate Mr Lee on possible charges of gross negligence.

"Although it was not intentional, many people have been infected," said the 88-year-old leader. "We put our utmost efforts, but were unable to prevent it all."

Of the confirmed cases, about 75% are from the southern city of Daegu and 73% of those have been linked to the Shincheonji Church.

In the capital, Seoul, the mayor urged the city's 10 million residents to work from home and to avoid crowded places.

Shincheonji Church of Jesus leader, Lee Man-hee told his church Congregation in the beginning of Cronavirus that as long as they are god's loyal believers they won't be get containment of virus. He uses his power to persuade his followers, he is a god's messenger. Shincheonji has a branch in Wuhan city, this religion has 60% of South Koreans. As you can see, a religion not always good for people.

Approximately 26 years ago, a pastor's wife of Evangelical church used her husband's leadership and convinced church congregation to invest on a project of many acres of land in Lancaster city, in California. There was no land they purchased, but she told us they will build school, apartments, condos, houses on that land and need investment fund. The minimum amount is $50K each. She told me that my children were 3 and 5 y/o, need to save money for their college tuition. That investment will send monthly interest with higher than bank rate. It turned out to be a "Ponzi Scheme".

Other cases, such as "Tammy and Jimmy Bakker" and "Jimmy Swaggart" and many Catholic priests molested many young boys. Why God didn't stop them? Because there is no god. People want to believe a god for their hope, but the god is not exist.
