Postpone my Rhine and Moselle rivers cruise to next year

I have known a 80 y/o Dutch woman at 24hr Fitness Aqua Aerobics class for years. She came to USA more than 60 yrs ago, and love to travel. She has traveled 70 or 80 countries. She had a marketing and sale job when young and travel a lot around the world. She was married for several yrs but they both had jobs and couldn't get much time together and divorced when young, no , no 2nd marriage. She has at least two trips in a year, but some years 4 or 5 trips. She has high passion in traveling and is bilingual in Dutch and English.

Anyway, she recommended me to Italy trip for 36 days from Oct 15 to Nov 19 in 20/18. I got one hundred dollars discount due to her referral and she also got discount for her next trip. She has traveled around the world and been to same countries several times.

We have planned to have Rhine and Moselle rivers cruise together from mid-July to early August for 15 days this year. We both paid in full in Nov 20/18 when I returned from Italy. We even selected airplane aisle seats separately by the aisle in same row from L.A. to Amsterdam.

This cruise trip first starts from her country, Amsterdam, Netherlands, to get on the river boat (smaller than ship), the itinerary includes France, Luxembourg, Germany, and Switzerland.

However, due to the Coronavirus spread to Europe, we decided to postpone to next year. The travel agency said no refund but we can use the full amount of voucher for the same trip next year.

This Coronavirus pandemic is so severe, the traveling agencies and airline companies will get hit the most. Can my travel agency survive till July next year? Why don't they refund us money but only full amount of voucher to postpone to next year?

I have a bad feeling about my traveling agency survival. My Dutch friend and I have paid the full amount in Nov 20'18.

There was "dot com bubble" in 20'01, "bank bankruptcy", "housing bubble" in 20'08. Can traveling industry and airline companies survive if Coronavirus last too long? How long can cruise ship business survive? When tourists cancel or postpone their trip.

Better safe than sorry, so I decided to cancel and postpone the cruise trip in July to next year. Hopefully this Coronavirus won't last more than a year.

I was looking forward to having this cruise since Nov '18, but the virus spread to Europe rapidly, I don't want to take the risk.

Trump suspends travel from Europe to U.S.

President Trump just announced to ban all European travel to U.S. for the next 30 days starting from this Friday, March 13 midnight.

I postponed my trip five hours before Trump's announcement.

Picture 3 is the river boat that we will embark on. It is called "River Venture".

There are several cruise ships have coronavirus spreading, i.e. Diamond Princess, Grand Princess, .... so we decided to postpone to next year. The travel agency understood our concern and postponed the same trip a year later with full amount of voucher, without any penalty or charge.

The picture enclosed is Rhine river and Moselle river meet. Is that beautiful scenery?
