Rational and practical prevention and treatment for Coronavirus By now you know that the Coronavirus pandemic has spread more than 180 countries in the world. The communist countries such as Russia and North Korea have closed their borders as soon as China coronavirus outbreak. Russia and N. Korea have the least confirmed case. Prevention - Wear mask, wash your hands thoroughly, keep social distance of 6 feet, if you go out. By now, most restaurants closed down for dine-in customers, but only take-out or delivery are available. Trump has ordered 3M to make surgical masks and N95 masks as fast as they can make. There are nowhere you can buy masks, Purell hand sanitizer, even toilet paper. I do have some masks but not enough to change every day. I wear gloves when go out. I don't use sanitizer, but wash my hands with soap frequently. I have installed "bidet toilet seat" in my house, so I came back from Italy trip in Nov 20/18. Bidet toilet seat can spray water to wash your butts clean, so no need toilet paper. I like Bidet and it is popular in France, Italy and Japan, especially Japanese bidet toilet seat has hot air to dry your butts. I have been to these 3 countries. Trump ordered GM, Ford and Tesla automakers to make ventilators instead of making cars. It sounded weird at first, but now I understand how fast of Coronavirus has spread to the world. Treatment (therapy) - A bio-tech company called Gilead Sciences has developed "Remdesivir" that used to use for SARS and MERS, but now it also works on novel Coronavirus too. But it is very expensive and insurance not cover this drug. Remdesivir only available in USA with patent protection. I heard China is trying to make smidgen of Remdesivir, not enough for vast patients. Taiwan is also making Remdesivir, but only few mg. Test agents - China and USA uses blood test for coronavirus. It takes few days to get the result back. Taiwan has developed using cotton swab on saliva in the mouth, it only take minutes and you don't need get out of your car. You roll down the window in front of medical care personnel, open your mouth and health personnel put a cotton swab into your mouth. You drive away, wait for minutes, the result will come out. It is very accurate and fast. Vaccine: There is Regeneron Pharmaceuticals has invented a vaccine, but they need at least a yr or 18 months 2 do animal test and human test before obtaining approval from FDA. I always have "Flu vaccine" every winter since I passed 60 y/o. Honesty is the best policy. |

It is wrong that we deposit money in banks but need to pay banks (Japan had negative interest for years, but economy is still bad). I like what FOMC chairman, Jerome Powel said on March 3rd when he lowered interest by half points (0.5% ). Powel said he lowered the interest rate to help monetary movement, but to lower interest rate can't reduce the virus spreading". Normally when Fed lowered rates, stock market will jump up, but this surprise to reduce interest rate only last 3 minutes and then market kept going down for the rest of day on March 3rd. Mr. Powel lowered interest rates by another 1% on Sunday, March 15 that was another surprise. FOMC meeting was scheduled on March 18, but Mr. Powel reduced rates to near zero by surprise twice. The stock market Dow Jones plunged to almost 3 thousand points on Monday, March 16. Volatility in the market triggered the first of three circuit breaker rules a 7% drop of the S&P 500, markets will be halted for 15 minutes. If the S&P 500 drops by 13%, market will be halted for an additional 15 minutes. If the decline reaches 20%, trading will be suspected for the day. This rue of S&P 7% drop has happened 4 times in March this year alone. The first time was on March 9th after market opened 4 minutes and immediately halted for 15 minute. Dow Jones down 2,013.76 points on March 9. The 2nd time S&P drop 7% was on March 12th when market opened only 2 minutes. Dow Jones down 2,352.60 points on March 12. The 3rd time was March 16, Monday morning when market already knew that Powel lowered another rate by 1% on Sunday, March 15. That morning opened only 1 second, S&P plunged 9%, market was halted for another 15 minutes. Dow Jones was down near 3 thousand points on March 16 Monday. The 4th time was on March 18 the day FOMC meeting scheduled. Mr. Powell said he won't lower interest rate below zero % (negative interest). The S&P down more than 7% and market was halted for another 15 minutes. Dow Jones plunged 1,338.46 points on March 18. All the investors were terrified fearful that the world will be in recession, as the Coronavirus pandemic spread to over 180 countries. The market volatility has taken its toll to an extend. Dow Jones has 38,4% correction, Nasdaq has 32.6% correction and S&P has 32.4% correction. The worst stock is Boeing from $446 a share to $89 a share. I am very lucky that I sold Boeing for $405.75 on Feb 5, 20/19 and took the profits. I am very lucky that sold my mom's condo on Sept 30, 20/18 and went to Italy for 36 days from Oct 15 to Nov 19 in 20/18. I also sold my mom's rental property in Vegas and escrow closed on Feb 19, this year just in time to save my margin account to change to cash account. This decision made me escaped from margin calls when market is so very volatile. I sold lots shares of Amazon at $2,181 a share and took profits. I used to have 520 shares and now only 160 shares left. I figure people stay at home and order online from Amazon during the coronavirus spreading. The stock market panic selling is very scaring. I hope this virus will subside by Summer this year and the market will calm down. This coronavirus spreading has changed our social lives. No more shaking hands, hugs, and kissing. I wear mask, latex globe, eye glasses, when go out. I tried to stay home as much as I can. My son lives with me and he works from home for his software job. Honesty is the best policy.

Before they began to speak up about this Virus in America, I stocked up on water, food and other items that I need and use. I bought the N95 Mask and extra filters, disposable gloves, ear plugs and I have snug fit glasses i had for the motorcycle that keep the wind out, and I have the "head rag" (something like what they call a "do rag"), to keep anything from attaching itself to my hair. I began to go to the store, at 6 am, when no one was there as soon as it opened. Now, some stores reserve the hours of 6-7am for senior citizens. I wash down my face mask and Before I take off my disposable gloves, I wash my hands in the gloves, and dry the gloves with paper towel, and then once removed I wash my hands. I sent out Notices to all employess at work, 3 weeks ahead of the the top admin. doing or saying much of anything. I posted a sign in the elevator to limit capacity to 2, nor more than 3 people... (someone complained and they ask me to take it down). The next day, someone from another organization two floor above the floor I work on, tested positive. Sadly, I still saw people get in there 4-5-6 people at a time. They looked at me funny when I said "NO" ... I will wait for the next one. They also looked funny when I and my boss came to work with gloves and mask. Now, I can work from Home... I went in Monday and Tuesday, because only essential workers were required to go in, but I went in my office and closed the door. I have disenfectants in my office, and even though I had on gloves, when I used the stairs or opened doors I did so with a paper towel. I am 65, and I know what my medical challenges are and I'm not going to pretend they don't exist. I think my son was upset because I did not go to my Granddaughter Cotillion, but my grand-daughter understood, now they all understand. I had already bought her a diamond and Saphire necklace and Ear Rings to congratulate her, which I gave to her before the event, and I explained to her mom, that I likely would not attend, due to the number of people that were scheduled to come. I don't like using my debit card at just any place, so I put extra money on a Pre-paid card, I use it to shop on line and at small stores, in case someone get the info, they can't get any more money than i had put on the card. I had been telling friends to use that method for the past few years, and I tell them, "keep cash", get a safe, its does not have to be a lot ( a few $100 at least... enough to get one through an urgent basic emergency need or if they are in situations where they have to use cash if everything else is an issue and people only want cash. ( I remember what happen to the people in Greece, when the banks would not give them but a very small amount of money, that was far less than what they need to even cover things for a few days)

President Trump mentioned Hydroxycholoroquine (anti-malaria) plus Azithromycin (antibiotic) can be used as treatment for Coronavirus. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), sold under the brand name Plaquenil. Azithromycin (brand name: Zithromax Z-Pak) is an antibiotic that fights bacteria such as respiratory infections, skin infections, ear infections, eye infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. Those two drugs are in the market for many years and generic is as same efficient as brand name but the cost are much lower. The insurance cover those two drugs. Honesty is the best policy.

I am a retired Taiwan and California licensed pharmacist. My daughter is an OBGYN doctor in New York. I hope my blog can help you to get prevention. Hope USA can get saliva test agents for coronavirus testing. I wear surgical mask and surgical gloves to protect myself when go out. I cancelled my trip to Europe this year. I wash my hands frequently and thoroughly. I have bidet toilet seat that spray water to clean butts. I have Ring Doorbell (front door, side yard and back yard) that connect to my cellphone to know anyone who closer to my house. I have changed my stock account from margin to cash account, so nobody can margin call me. Honesty is the best policy.
