Crowdfunded 'Taiwan can help' ad published in New York Times Taipei, April 14 (CNA) The New York Times published an advertisement funded by over 26,000 donors in a fundraising campaign with the aim of showing the world that Taiwan can help in the fight against the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The full-page advertisement, initiated by a Taiwanese Youtuber and an award-winning designer, begins with the question "WHO can help?" followed by the answer: "Taiwan." The bottom of the ad reads: "In a time of isolation, we choose solidarity. You are not alone. Taiwan is with you." It also elaborates that Taiwan knows how to fight pandemics due to its experience in the battle against the SARS epidemic of 2003. It also knows perfectly well how it feels to be isolated because it has been isolated from the World Health Organization (WHO ), the ad reads, referring to the fact that the country has been barred from attending the annual World Health Assembly (WHA), the decision-making body of the WHO, since 2017 due to pressure from China. "That is why we are contributing to international efforts by sharing how we contained the outbreak, kept our schools and businesses open, and ensured masks for all," it reads. It adds that the country has also been donating millions of surgical masks to support medical workers worldwide over the past weeks, as well as studying research along with global partners into advanced rapid testing and a vaccine for COVID-19. "Who can isolate Taiwan? No one. Because we are here to help," it says, before concluding with the hashtags #TaiwanCanHelp #TaiwanIsHelping. The ad was published in Tuesday's edition both online and in print. It was funded by the crowdfunding campaign initiated by Taiwanese YouTube personality Ray Du (阿滴) and graphic designer Aaron Nieh (聶永真) April 10. The campaign was launched after WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at a news conference on April 8 accused Taiwan of personal attacks and "racism," which drew Taiwan's ire, with the government rebutting the allegations as unfounded. Nieh said in a Facebook post that the newspaper ad is a starting point for Taiwan to tell the world that it is offering helping hands to the world despite the smear campaign launched by the WHO head. He did not say exactly how much funding the campaign managed to raise or how much the ad cost, saying only that half of the money was used to pay for the ad, while the rest will be used to purchase medical supplies to aid pandemic control efforts, both in Taiwan and in other countries. Taiwan has been threatened by CCP since 1971 when Taiwan chose to outer of United Nation (UN ) and China entered UN. U.S. former president Jimmy Carter abandoned Taiwan and established diplomatic relationship with China for MONETARY matters because Chinese large population and cheap labors. China isolated Taiwan from the world, exited UN, WHO, WTO, ... etc. During this Coronavirus time, CCP still sent their planes and ships to Taiwan strait many times to threaten Taiwan. They don't have time to fight for Coronavirus but have time to threaten Taiwan with their military force. If CCP wants to unify Taiwan, they should use "soft" way to attract Taiwan. On the contrary, they use military force to suppress and threats. Who wants to be with a wolf? CCP has no brain. All they know is weap*n, that will make Taiwan run away. Look the past 70 and half years, how CCP controlled its own people, by Cultural Revolution, Great Famine, June 4th Democracy Movement massacre, One child policy (should use birth control pills), Organ Harvesting on Falun Gong practitioners, suppressed Hong Kong protesters over extradition, the Coronavirus pandemic spreading started from Wuhan city, Hubei province and spread to the world. CCP even said this coronvirus was from U.S. military, and then said from Italy, then said from Spain, .... They don't have brain. CCP said U.S. needs to have an explanation, the world should appreciate China. What's wrong with CCP? Do they have IQ or EQ? CCP thinks that they can brainwashed their own people, so now they are going to brainwash the whole world. Xi's pipe dream to be the "Ruler" of the world by "One Belt, One Road". Not so fast!! You can fool some people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time. This coronavirus prove to the world your crime. There are many countries will sue CCP. British p.m. Boris Johnson and Prince Charles got sick, UK will sue CCP, Japan can't have Olympics in July this year, Japan great loss for those construction and preparation for this Summer Olympics has been postponed. Japan will sue. Italy and Iran death toll are very high, they will sue. India will sue. USA will sue CCP and W.H.O. bias China. We shall see ...... Honesty is the best policy.
